Hit the Floor 3×5 Review: Lockout

Hit the Floor Jude and Zero Zude

Hit the Floor left things at a cliffhanger in the previous episode, and this week we got to see the consequences in ‘Lockout’. Buckle your seat belts, folks!

A lot of developments occurred in this week’s episode of Hit the Floor, and there was also a lot of Zude. However, let’s get the rest of the storylines out of the way before we talk about Jude and Zero.

I was looking forward to Ahsha’s (Taylour Paige) reaction after German confessed about murdering Olivia. As far as I could tell she took it pretty well, and I think she was glad German did what he could to protect her. German even told her that he understood if she decided to leave him because of what he did.

With German’s confession paired with the guilt of sleeping with Derek, Ahsha is in real trouble right now. She went to meet Derek and call things off between them but ended up sleeping with him again. Ahsha needs to take a deep breath and re-prioritize. On one hand she doesn’t want to leave German because he killed for her and she wants to help him deal with his current emotional turmoil, and on the other hand she wants to be with Derek. Decide already, girl!

Not only that, near the end of the episode we found out that German has been spying on Ahsha the whole time and possibly knows about her and Derek hooking up. Things are only going to get more complicated for Ahsha being stuck between a murderer and someone who is probably borderline obsessed with her.

While I like Sloane as a character, the scenes where she was being too chummy with the female officer spelled trouble. I have never been under a witness protection program but I do know that you don’t start telling your life story to the officer who’s supposed to be protecting you. The moment Olivia’s name was mentioned I knew something bad was going to happen. And though Sloane came across as stupid in the episode, I have to applaud Oscar for being such a mastermind even from behind bars.

The fight between Jelena (Logan Browning) and Lionel continued, and Jelena did get the upper hand by the end of the episode. Jelena and Terrence played all their cards right, and even though Lionel tried to fight back, the power couple remained two steps ahead of her. I have no idea who is going to come out victorious and own the Devils. It is Hit the Floor after all so, there is a chance a third person might win everything. Will Oscar play a trump card that will make both Lionel and Jelena lose?

vlcsnap-2016-02-23-22h02m51s182Coming to Jude (Brent Antonello) and Zero (Adam Senn), I can’t thank James LaRosa enough for creating such an amazing pairing. After kissing Jude in public, things drastically changed for Zude. Always dreading the worst, I was expecting Zero to regret his decision and break up with Jude. However, those two shared some very intimate scenes throughout the episode. Zero did throw a temper tantrum but it had more to do with the press being after him 24/7 rather than declaring his relationship with Jude. The two had a little heart-to-heart, and I liked Jude’s callback to the line he said in the previous season before they shared their first kiss about them always being together. Jude also made Zero understand that the increased publicity was good thing, and Zero, being the fame-whore he is (I say these words with utmost love), immediately posted a pic of themselves in the bathtub to make the press go crazy.

It is nice to see a TV show that hasn’t forced its characters to stay in the closet for numerous seasons. Seeing out and proud queer characters does a lot for representation. Especially if those characters are from the world of sports. Zero is a bisexual basketball star, and I can see him using the media’s attention to his advantage, with Jude right next to him. Now, when will those two get married?

Quote of the Week: “We’re still in this together. It’s still just you and me.” – Jude to Zero.

What did you think of Hit the Floor this week? Were you surprised by the events that took place in ‘Lockout’? Let us know!

  1. The Jude and Zero scenes were my favorite. I just love these two together. As far as Sloane getting all chummy with her protection I agree with you 100%. When she was told to call the cop by ger first name I said ” whoa…wait..what?” Very unprofessional. Cannot wait to see what happens next. All the scenes with “Zude” just made me fall for them all the more.

    1. I was so worried for Zude when the episode aired and the media going after them, and then Zero said that ‘regret’ line to Jude, and I was like, oh! no! It is over!!!…but yeah, glad those two worked things out in the end ^^
