In what may be one of the most spot-on casting decisions ever, a teaser trailer for the upcoming anime film Human Lost revealed that Mamoru Miyano will star as Yozo Oba.

Human Lost, a “new sci-fi, cyberpunk film project” from Afro Samurai director Fuminori Kizaki, is an adaptation of Osamu Dazai’s iconic novel No Longer Human. Miyano, as some of you probably know, voices Dazai in Bungo Stray Dogs, an anime in which most of the characters are named after authors and their supernatural abilities are based off those authors’ works. Dazai’s ability, to negate everyone else’s ability, is called “No Longer Human”. So, yes, I find it incredibly apt that Miyano was chosen to star in this film.

Toho Animation, the studio behind Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters as well as Geekiary favorites like Haikyuu!! and Boku no Hero Academia, released the teaser trailer for the 3D CGI film earlier today.

Human Lost is scheduled for a 2019 worldwide release. It was announced at Funimation’s Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2) panel yesterday that Funimation Films will screen the film in select US theaters this fall.

Here is the summary of the film, provided by Funimation:

The year is 2036. A revolution in medical treatment has conquered death by means of internal nanomachines and the “Shell System”, yet only the richest can afford to partake.

Yozo Oba isn’t the richest. Troubled by strange dreams, he flippantly joins his friend’s biker gang on an ill-fated incursion to “The Inside”, where society’s elite lives. This instigates a journey of terrifying discovery that will change Yozo’s life forever.

In related news, it was announced last month that VIZ Media will be releasing the English-language version of Junji Ito’s manga adaptation of No Longer Human, which was originally serialized in Shogakukan’s Big Comic Original magazine starting in May 2017.

By the way, Bungo Stray Dogs returns with season 3 on April 12.
