IDOLiSH7 Spinoff Vibrato to Reveal the History of TRIGGER

Idolish7 Vibrato

The official website for IDOLiSH7 debuted the trailer for its first episode of Vibrato, the internet-only spinoff of the anime that is based on a popular game. IDOLiSH7 Vibrato premieres February 17 on YouTube!

I’m behind the times – or just not up on my anime news – because I didn’t even know this spinoff was going to be a thing. You may remember from my report of AnimeNYC that I was able to screen the first two episodes of the anime among a large group of fans, which made me really want to watch the show. The anime, which premiered in Japan on January 7, is one of the few winter anime that I’ve picked up and am following. IDOLiSH7 Vibrato was announced in December, so I clearly need to pay better attention.

IDOLiSH7 tells the story of seven young men who are put together in an idol group and must deal with the realities of working together, building a following, and dealing with personal issues. Here’s the official synopsis from Crunchyroll, which is streaming the series:

A group of aspiring idols gather at Takanashi Productions and are entrusted with the company’s future. The seven men who have just met represent a variety of totally different personalities. However, they each have their own charm and possess unknown potential as idols. Forming a group, they take their first step together as “IDOLiSH7.” Their brilliantly shining dancing forms onstage eventually begin captivating the hearts of the people. In the glorious but sometimes harsh world of idols, they aim for the top with dreams in their hearts!

They must also deal with rival idol group TRIGGER. There’s a connection between the groups (that I won’t spoil for anyone who doesn’t know) that just adds to the tension.

TRIGGER is the focus of the first episode of Vibrato. The English-subbed trailer teases the secret behind-the-scenes story of how TRIGGER formed, since in the first episode of the anime they are already an established group, and previews a new song called “DIAMOND FUSION”. “TRIGGER ~before The Radiant Glory~” launches February 17 at 12:00pm JST (February 16, 10:00pm EST).

The IDOLiSH7 anime will have 17 episodes. New episodes are available on Crunchyroll on Sundays.
