Avengers: Infinity War Blu-ray and Digital Release

Currently available, fans can go ahead and relive Thanos taking out half of the universe’s population as well as enjoy a number of exciting special features through the Avengers: Infinity War Blu-ray and Digital releases.

I was provided a free Digital copy of Avengers: Infinity War for review. The opinions about the free Digital copy and the Blu-ray (which I bought) are my own.

Considering the impressive box office performance of Avengers: Infinity War, it would be safe to assume everyone knows about this film (and likely have an opinion about the MCU) even if they haven’t watched it. I won’t be rehashing our review in this post. Instead, I will be talking more about the special features and extra content the Avengers: Infinity War Blu-ray and Digital releases have to offer.

There is a lot of CG going around in Avengers: Infinity War and the Blu-ray’s 1080p video presentation does justice to every computer-generated environment and character. There’s a fluidity in the definition which fans will enjoy having watched the title in theaters. Everything is clear and bright. Even the debris-filled landscape of Titan looks striking.

The disc’s audio presentation is DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 lossless soundtrack which made for good audio delivery. Some fans might have wanted the Blu-ray to include the UHD’s Dolby Atmos track, but I don’t think it’s exclusion is a dealbreaker.

Coming to all of the special features in the Avengers: Infinity War Blu-ray and Digital releases, you get an audio commentary track, a gag reel, deleted scenes, four featurettes, and an intro.

  • Intro (1080p, 1:32): Directors Joe and Anthony Russo deliver a short intro about the film.
  • Strange Alchemy (1080p, 5:08): Whether you enjoyed the film or not, you have to appreciate all of the planning that went into bringing numerous characters together. This extra feature talks about the process.
  • The Mad Titan (1080p, 6:34): A look at Thanos as a character and Josh Brolin’s performance. I didn’t like Thanos so this was meh! for me.
  • Beyond the Battle: Titan (1080p, 9:36): Along with talking about how the MCU characters were brought together, you also get to know more about how the battle on Titan was executed.
  • Beyond the Battle: Wakanda (1080p, 10:58): A look at the battle in Wakanda which was shot in Georgia.

  • Deleted Scenes (1080p, 10:13):
    • Happy Knows Best (1:23) – Tony and Pepper spar over the details of their upcoming wedding—until a hassled Happy Hogan pulls up with an urgent request.
    • Hunt for the Mind Stone (1:24) – On a darkened street, Wanda Maximoff and the wounded Vision attempt to hide from Thanos’ brutal allies.
    • The Guardians Get Their Groove Back (3:20) – As Peter Quill and Drax quarrel over their failed mission to Knowhere, Mantis interrupts with news.
    • A Father’s Choice (4:00) – Thanos confronts Gamora with a vision from her past—and with lying to him about the Soul Stone. As far as my opinion goes, this deleted scene should have been part of the actual film as it helped in understanding the relationship dynamic between Gamora and Thanos.
  • Gag Reel (2:05)

  • Audio Commentary: Directors Joe and Anthony Russo along with writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely offer an enjoyable dive into the film’s story. They talk about certain technical details of the shoot, interweaving plot elements from previous films, striking a balance between the action and emotional content, the editing process, and much more. I recommend buying the home release for the audio commentary!
  • Digital Exclusive: A Directors’ Roundtable (approx. 32 min.) – Eight directors reflect on how their movies contribute to the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s larger storytelling adventure.
