Jessica Jones Season Three Set for June 2019

The third and final season of Netflix’s Jessica Jones is set to drop on the streaming site next month in June, officially closing the curtain on the long-running line-up of live-action Marvel Netflix shows.

Unfortunately, this looks to be the end of the Netflix Marvel shows. Back in February, it was announced that Jessica Jones was officially cancelled, following months of speculation after fellow Marvel Netflix shows Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and Daredevil were all axed. Of course, it came as a shock considering how popular the majority of these shows were. But now, with Jessica Jones being the last show to air its final season, this really is goodbye.

Earlier today, Whats-On-Netflix released its list of the upcoming Netflix titles for June 2019. Jessica Jones was listed as an upcoming title, although it should be mentioned that the original series doesn’t yet have an official date set. At the current moment, the show is listed under the category of “to be determined”. But no worries, we know that season three of Jessica Jones has already been filmed.

Netflix’s official season three synopsis reads as follows:

“When Jessica (Krysten Ritter) crosses paths with a highly intelligent psychopath, she and Trish (Rachael Taylor) must repair their fractured relationship and team up to take him down. But a devastating loss reveals their conflicting ideas of heroism, and sets them on a collision course that will forever change them both.”

Last season of Jessica Jones pushed the close friendship of Jessica and Trish Walker right off the edge, ultimately ending with the two characters going their separate ways—with Jessica mourning a huge loss and Trish seemingly finding her strength in new found powers. But from the sound of this season three synopsis, it seems like we’ll be getting some interesting Jessica/Trish superhero dynamic in the finale season. Sounds like a great direction to go for the last run of Netflix’s Marvel original series.

But what do you think about this news? Were you expecting the last season to get here so quickly? Are you excited? Have you accepted the fact that this might really be the last Marvel Netflix series, or are you holding onto hope that we’ll see Jessica, Luke, Danny, and Matt somewhere on Disney’s upcoming streaming service like me?
