We Should Allow Scarlett Johansson to Play Anything & Anyone She Wants!

Scarlett Johansson Captain America: Civil War women Black Widow Scarlett Johansson

I don’t know about you, but I feel for Scarlett Johansson. Being an incredibly talented actress, like literally the best actress Hollywood has to offer, I can’t even begin to imagine how suffocated she must feel being forced into a box labeled “cis-gendered, straight white woman.” Johansson should be allowed to play any role she wants to share her talent with the world. LEAVE SCARLETT ALONE!

Hollywood has gone crazy. Films were doing just fine (more than just fine!) with white actors having the ability to play characters of any race or sexuality. That’s what acting is all about, isn’t it? You know, taking the place of different people and using your acting chops to bring them to life onscreen. That’s the magic of filmmaking.

It’s just a role. It should be okay for white actors to play people of color and trans characters as long as they’re the right choice for the job. But in the current era that we’re living in, everything has to be politically correct and Johansson is getting a lot of hate for her thinking otherwise; for being brave enough to speak the truth. Sigh! Can’t a white actress catch a break?

She was so excited to play the lead in Ghost in the Shell. But annoying Social Justice Warriors caused the movie to flop. She was extremely excited to portray a trans man in Rub & Tug but the SJWs struck again!

Y’all ended her chance to get an Oscar! Male actors have won awards for playing trans characters before, so why couldn’t Johansson get a similar chance? Why are you all so tough on white actresses? You need to check your sexist racism.

Her interview with As If magazine is a work of beauty. I’m in awe of her thinking pattern and how she continues to stand up for what is right. White actors shouldn’t be pushed away from the limelight in the name of some trend to cast actual POCs and trans talent. It’s very unfair.

Via the Daily Mail:

‘You know, as an actor I should be allowed to play any person, or any tree, or any animal because that is my job and the requirements of my job,’ she said point blank.

She continued: ‘I feel like it’s a trend in my business and it needs to happen for various social reasons, yet there are times it does get uncomfortable when it affects the art because I feel art should be free of restrictions.’

‘I think society would be more connected if we just allowed others to have their own feelings and not expect everyone to feel the way we do.’

If Disney can have an African-American live-action Ariel why can’t Johansson play a trans man or even Harriett Tubman? It’s all about being perfect for the role, right? Johansson has talent for days! No one can even come close to her in the acting department. That’s why seeing her receiving so much backlash is disheartening to me. You’re ruining her talent.

If by any chance you’re reading this Johansson, know that I’m with you. I even realize in my heart you’re extremely disappointed because no one praised your work of portraying Black Widow as a trans-WOC in the MCU films. But I know what you did in those films and I appreciate your efforts. It’s one of the reasons I’m looking forward to your Black Widow solo movie.

Here’s to hoping you’re able to continue being brave and forcing your way to the roles you want. All those minorities being cast as a trend or as diversity hires in Hollywood need to bow out of your way.

You are the Mulan we all deserved.

I can’t wait to see you reach even greater heights in your incredible career.
