Having completed a successful Kickstarter campaign, the Jurassic World the Legacy of Isla Nublar board game has become available at retail stores nationwide. Are you ready to build your own dino park and face the consequences?

From Prospero Hall and Funko Games, Jurassic World the Legacy of Isla Nublar has been described as a campaign-style board game meant for one to four players. The players will be guided through the entire Jurassic World saga by placing them in familiar situations. The players will decide how to react and decide the fate of the park.

The gameplay includes visiting scientists, park architects as well as security and management staff. It is up to you to try and run the park as efficiently as possible while facing nature and other unpredictable elements being thrown your way. Choices matter and will drive the narrative toward a game-exclusive conclusion.

There are more than 12 adventures for players to experience. You will decide where to build park facilities, guest attractions, and dinosaur enclosures. Players will also have to ensure visitors and employees are safe from dinos such as the Tyrannosaurus Rex and the Velociraptor (to name a couple of threats).

According to the promo material, the gameplay mechanic concerning player choices will give rise to a custom game board and dinos that can’t be unmade. Also, “your experience will culminate in an endlessly replayable game of your own creation.”

As for the characters, players will be able to take on the role of both original and familiar faces. The cast includes John Hammond, Dr. Alan Grant, Dr. Ellie Sattler, Dr. Ian Malcolm, Claire Dearing, and many more. Character abilities are a thing.

Here’s a gameplay video!

Judging by the trailer, I like the storytelling element featured in the game. The prologue has John Hammond and his park planner Alejandra Solano heading to Isla Nublar to meet up with the crew surveying the location to decide where to build the park’s first facilities. Taking the players to a time before the events of Jurassic Park does make me interested in what other scenarios the game will have.

I also like the old-timey art featured on the cards. The ‘inside’ and ‘outside’ mechanic is interesting, too.

Costing $120.00 MSRP, the Jurassic World the Legacy of Isla Nublar board game is meant for ages 10 and up.
