Kamala Khan to Make Animated Debut in “Avengers: Ultron Revolution” in 2016!

Ms Marvel cover 1

Kamala Khan is definitely one of the most relatable characters to come out of Marvel in a long time, and it seems the comic book company wants to make her even bigger. The young Ms. Marvel will make her animated debut in the upcoming Avengers: Ultron Revolution series.

According to CBR News, the third season of Avengers Assemble will be titled Avengers: Ultron Revolution.  The official description reads:

In season three of “Marvel’s Avengers: Ultron Revolution,” the Avengers are not only shocked by the return of a vengeful Ultron, but they also encounter new threats like Baron Zemo, the Masters of Evil, the Inhumans, and the futuristic Kang the Conqueror. It’s only with the help of heroes like Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Ant-Man and Ms. Marvel that they have a chance of surviving an all-out Marvel super hero Civil War.

While I haven’t seen any episodes of Avengers Assemble (I’m more of an X-Men fan), Ms. Marvel making her onscreen debut is something I’m looking forward to. The only thing I’m worried about is that she came to the Marvel Universe back in 2013, and though she got her own solo series, there isn’t a lot of source material for the writers to take inspiration from. This won’t be a problem if she’s going to be making guest appearances in the new show, but it could make things difficult if Marvel decides to give Kamala her own spin-off. Not having enough comic book source material for writers to copy onscreen might end up making two different versions of Ms. Marvel.

Ms Marvel coverFrom what I’ve heard from friends who have watched Avengers Assemble, character development isn’t the show’s biggest strength. So, there’s a chance that Kamala’s Muslim Pakistani-American background won’t be mentioned at all in the show. I do hope that isn’t the case, because her background is a major part of her whole personality. I want the show to do justice to her character and allow young viewers, or others who don’t know the character from the comic books, to get to know the real Kamala Khan and what makes her awesome.

Another thing I found problematic about this news is the fact that the new season will likely go into Civil War territory. Not seeing the X-Men be part of the Civil War storyline in the MCU is understandable due to character rights, but the mutants not being part of such a major event in the animated universe doesn’t feel right to me.

Could it be that Marvel is deliberately pushing the mutants to the background in the animated universe, too? There hasn’t been a new X-Men animated series since Wolverine and the X-Men, which came out in 2008 and was cancelled after just one season.

Avengers: Ultron Revolution will hit the air in 2016.

What do you think about Ms. Marvel being part of Avengers: Ultron Revolution? What are your thoughts about how Marvel is handing the X-Men franchise? Let us know!
