Kevin Feige Reminds Us What We Were Doing One Year Ago…

These are troubling times we’re living in, but Kevin Feige has joined the conversation on Twitter about what the MCU fandom was doing together one year ago today.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe trip down memory lane began this morning before Kevin Feige’s tweet when Twitter user Scott Gustin posted some clips of Avengers Endgame audience reactions to select scenes on opening night. Captain America wielding Mjolnir is a particularly fun highlight that has been viewed on Twitter 4.8 million times in just 20 hours since it’s original posting. But then Feige took notice.

Movie theaters are closed right now. A lot of films (including Marvel) have been pushed back. About half of the planet is currently on lockdown as we shelter in place and attempt to flatten the curve. March felt like it lasted an entire decade, so it’s nice to suddenly have this positive anniversary to remind us what the world was like just twelve months ago, and what it will be like again someday.

Things will be different when we can finally return to theaters. Just like how our post-9/11 world changed in response to the tragedy, we’ll surely have adjustments to make as we learn from our current tragedy. We had our first hint of that today when we learned that Disneyland may implement temperature screenings when it reopens. But it will reopen, just like theaters and restaurants and malls and everything else we may have taken for granted before the outbreak. 

Kevin Feige doesn’t tweet often. His last tweet was from November 2018 when Stan Lee passed away. So I’m grateful he took the time to send a message to fandom and give us some hope in these alarmingly bleak times. It was a simple action, but sometimes that’s all you need to push you in a more positive direction. Thanks, Feige.
