Lincoln Cole talks about ‘Second Chances’!

Second Chances by Lincoln Cole

Today we have author Lincoln Cole with us. Check out our exclusive interview with where we talk about his current titles, and future projects!

Lincoln Cole writes in various genres, and that makes him a versatile author who attracts different kinds of readers.

Please introduce yourself to our readers.

I am a software developer who writes in his spare time. I’m married and live in Columbus, Ohio.

When did you realize you were an author?

When I was eleven I read every Stephen King book I could get my hands on and I knew without a doubt that I wanted to be a writer. I wanted to create worlds and tell stories.

Other authors who have inspired your work?

Stephen King, Michael Crichton, Tolkien, George R.R. Martin, Asimov, and many others.

What’s your favorite genre and why?

I love science-fiction because it is forward thinking and looks to the future, and the number of new inventions brought about because of science-fiction novels is huge.

What can you tell us about your book Second Chances? What kind of readers will it appeal to?

It’s a literary novel with a lot of social commentary in it, and I think it will appeal to anyone who likes contemporary novels that address modern problems in America head on. We have a lot of deeply rooted issues to overcome as a nation, and I wanted to address those issues without skirting around them.

Lincoln Cole ProfileI know this might be a tough question to answer but who’s your favorite character from the works you’ve completed and why?

It’s tough to say because I write so many genres. In science-fiction, I think Traq is my favorite, but I like most of my characters. In the literary genre, I think it has to be Nichole. It is a really hard question because each character has some special attachment.

What are your thoughts regarding traditional and self-publishing?

I think traditional publishing is dying, and the companies are doubling down on their efforts of streamlining what they already sell. They see the writing on the wall and are fighting back like the cable companies did when services like Netflix started popping up, or the way the music industry did when music was being pirated. Eventually, after a huge shakeup, the industry will stabilize because there will always be huge companies making most of the money, it’ll just be different companies and people than the current group. That’s why the current group fights back so far, because they know their time is limited.

Would you like to share some advice for new authors?

Write because you enjoy it, and if you do decide to publish, know that it is expensive to market. Everything costs money, and you have to spend money to make money. If you are fine just having real copies of your books available, then you can do that almost free, and I think that’s enough for most people. But, don’t expect things to happen overnight.

Are they any upcoming works we should know about?

I’m working on a new paranormal novel about angels and demons called Raven’s Peak, and it’ll be coming out sometime this year. It’s been difficult but rewarding to write, and it’s something completely new for me!
