DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Season Two – Blu-ray Review

DC's Legends of Tomorrow: The Complete Season Season Blu-ray DVD release Tomorrow Season Two

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow changed a lot of things during its second season and it worked in the show’s favor. You can now binge-watch the Legends of Tomorrow Season Two on Blu-ray before the third season debuts soon.

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the Blu-ray I reviewed in this Blog Post. The opinions I share are my own.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow premiered back in 2016 as a spin-off of The CW’s other superhero shows, Arrow and The Flash. While the show isn’t going to give you a Justice League level team, it’s still fun to see superheroes working together to save the world.

The first season of LoT had some issues with characters and pacing. Even though it had familiar faces such as Sara Lance (Caity Lotz), Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), and Leonard Snart (Wentworth Miller), it focused too much on Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill), someone the fans didn’t care for much. However, Legends of Tomorrow Season Two addressed those issues and made changes that worked for the better.

Kendra Saunders (Ciara Renee) left the show as a series regular and Rip Hunter was demoted. Furthermore, new characters were introduced to freshen things up. We got Nate Heywood (Nick Zano) and Amaya Jiwe (Maisie Richardson-Sellers). We also got to see the Legion of Doom which consisted of Malcolm Merlyn (John Barrowman), Damien Darkh (Neal McDonough), and Eobard Thawne (Matt Letscher).

For me, Legends of Tomorrow Season two ended up being better than what The Flash, Arrow, and even Supergirl had to offer during their respective seasons. We got some good queer representation, especially due to Sara playing a bigger role. Also, the main arc involving the Spear of Destiny as well as the battle with the Legion of Doom made for some fun and interesting episodes. The second season also included the ‘Invasion!’ crossover event, with LoT showing the conclusion.

Coming to the Blu-ray itself, the front of the packaging features the main artwork. The back has details about the home video release along with some images. The three-disc set offers a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 in English along with ESDH, Spanish, and French subtitles. The video is presented in 1080p High Definition 16×9 1.78:1 quality. A Digital HD copy is included with the Blu-ray release.

Along with all 17 episodes, there is also some extra content for you to enjoy. You get the entire DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: 2016 Comic-Con Panel along with the ‘Allied: The Invasion Complex’ featurette. There are also a couple of deleted scenes and an enjoyable Gag-Reel.

The extra features are standard and what you expect from the home releases of such superhero shows from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. I’d really want to see some cast and crew commentaries in future releases.

You can currently own DC’s Legends of Tomorrow Season Two on Digital HD, DVD, and Blu-ray. The third season is set to premiere on October 10, 2017.
