SuperHoech Returns and This Time He’s Bringing Lois Lane

Tyler Hoechlin Superman Lois Lane

Look in the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! Nope, it’s Tyler Hoechlin, making his return to the Arrowverse as Superman in this year’s DCTV crossover! (And he’s bringing a friend!)

It’s been reported by multiple outlets, and I’m beyond excited, that Hoechlin will once again grace our screens as the Man of Steel in the Arrowverse. This year’s crossover seems to only be three episodes – Supergirl, The Flash, and Arrow – but Hoechlin is reportedly going to appear in all three. He won’t be alone this time. Lois Lane will finally make her DCTV debut.

“We couldn’t be more excited to introduce Lois Lane to the Arrowverse,” said Supergirl executive producers Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner. “This dogged, determined and brave reporter will make for a strong partner to Superman and amazing addition to our universe of DC characters.”

Lois isn’t the only iconic character making her debut in this crossover. The annual event will also mark the first appearance of Batwoman (Ruby Rose), so pretty soon we’re going to see a whole mess of DC characters interacting for the first time. We’ll finally get to see Superman with Flash and Arrow (not to mention Superman with Lois, who was oft-mentioned in his first appearance in season 2 of Supergirl). We’ll get to see Batwoman with everyone. We’ll hopefully get to see Lois with everyone as well, as it would be a waste to bring her on and only give her scenes with Superman.

I got to speak with Queller and Rovner at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, and they were especially coy when asked about Hoechlin’s return to the series. Thankfully it’s because they were sitting on this big news!

The three-night Arrowverse crossover begins Sunday, December 9. I’m seeing a lot of conflicting information about this, but as it was recently announced that Supergirl is moving to Sunday nights, presumably it will start with Supergirl, as usual. It will follow with The Flash and then conclude with Arrow. I think.

EDIT: Turns out I was super wrong! It does start December 9, but with The Flash. Then Arrow on Monday, December 10, and Supergirl on Tuesday, December 11. You can understand my confusion, as none of the shows are airing on the days they normally air.

Casting for Lois will begin soon. Who would you like to see take up the mantle?
