Love Ghost Stories? Like Podcasts? Check Out “Ghoul Intentions”!

Ghoul Intentions

If you’re like me and have a long commute time, podcasts can make the whole experience more bearable. If you’re also like me and happen to enjoy a good ghost story, even better a true ghost story, then Ghoul Intentions is the podcast for you.

These days it seems like there is a podcast out there for everything and everyone. The first horror podcast I listened to was the No Sleep Podcast. The stories were great and acted out well, but I was looking for something a little different. I stumbled upon the Ghoul Intentions podcast by accident.

I was looking at Twitter profiles of anime dub voice actors that I was a fan of and I can’t remember now if it was J. Michael Tatum (Black Butler) or Jamie Marchi’s (High School DxD) Twitter account that I was looking at, but I saw mention of a ghost story podcast hosted by the two of them and I knew that I had to check it out!

Ghoul Intentions is hosted by the aforementioned Tatum and Marchi. Their regular episodes are around 60-90 minutes long, while their shorter episodes (Ghosticals) are around a half-hour in length. As of this writing, there are currently 66 regular episodes and 46 Ghosticals episodes available. The format of their earlier episodes began with a cold open reading along with sharing some of their own experiences, experiences from their occasional guests, and other listener-submitted stories.

As the podcast went on, the format of the regular Ghoul Intentions episodes became more standardized with a cold opening and then Michael and/or Jamie sharing the history of an event, area, building, etc before going into the haunting occurrences that happen there. The Ghosticals episodes were added later to share some of the shorter listener submissions they receive and follow-ups from previous stories they had been sent.

What I really enjoy about this podcast is that it is not just the straight telling of ghost stories. The cold opening stories are engaging, with great background music to fit the mood. Jamie and Michael have awesome rapport and are fun to listen to. You can definitely tell that they are passionate about the stories they share and truly enjoy recording their podcast.

Jamie and Michael don’t just share ghost stories either, they speak on mental health and their own personal struggles, and provide encouraging words for their listeners. They talk about relevant social topics and are very sensitive to being inclusive and supportive. It may be a podcast about ghosts, but it’s very uplifting as well!

They joke around and share stories about their families and things they are going through in their lives without taking away from the topic at hand. It only makes the podcast more personable and interesting to listen to. Even their occasional tangents are fun!

I highly recommend the Ghoul Intentions podcast to anyone who enjoys hearing a good ghost story with fun, knowledgeable, and entertaining hosts.

You can listen to Ghoul Intentions on their website, Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, and Google Music.
