SDCC 2018: The Man in the High Castle Teases a New Resistance

Man in the High Castle

It’s been a long wait (almost two years!), but Amazon’s dystopian alternate history The Man in the High Castle, based on the novel by Philip K. Dick, will finally be returning with season 3 this October. The cast and crew were on hand at San Diego Comic-Con to tease the upcoming season.

Resistance will be a key theme of season 3 of The Man in the High Castle, with the Resistance more determined than ever to bring down the Nazis, the titular character (played by Stephen Root) decided whether or not he wants to step up as the leader, and a new character (played by Jason O’Mara) who may have to choose a side after he meets Juliana.

Season 3 will also delve a little bit more into the metaphysics and the multi-verse that was introduced in the first two seasons. Now that the Nazis are aware that there are other realities, what does that mean? What will happen? Executive producer Isa Dick Hackett (Philip K. Dick’s daughter) told the panel audience that this season will draw on several chapters that were written towards a sequel.

For anyone who doesn’t have time to rewatch seasons 1 and 2 before the new season premieres in October, the producers have put together a 30-minute recap video, which you can watch here. This may also help anyone who is new to the show to catch up, or at least see if they think it’s worth watching.

I was fortunate enough to be in the press room and talk to executive producers Hackett and Daniel Percival, as well as stars Rufus Sewell, Alexa Davalos, and newcomer Jason O’Mara about what else we can expect when The Man in the High Castle returns.

The Man in the High Castle season 3 premieres October 5 on Amazon Prime, and has already been renewed for season 4!
