Marvel on Netflix News: Daredevil, Jessica Jones, & More

Marvel on Netflis

Netflix caught a big one with Jessica Jones this week, as it became the first Netflix show to win an Emmy. But that’s not the only news about Marvel on Netflix, and part of that news doesn’t bode well for season two of Jessica Jones or season three of Daredevil.

Marvel on Netflix Jessica JonesNow, the Primetime Emmys haven’t actually happened yet, but the Creative Arts Emmys – which focus on technical excellence in television – took place on September 10th & 11th. Jessica Jones won for Best Original Main Title Theme Music, and as a huge fan of the show, I have to say that this was definitely deserved. Among the shows it beat were two other Netflix shows – Sense8 and Narcos. Not only is this the first win for Netflix, it’s the first Emmy for any Marvel TV show, including ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter. While none of these shows are nominated for Primetime Emmys, Jessica Jones has already been awarded both Hugo and Peabody Awards. If you have yet to watch any shows from Marvel on Netflix, we at The Geekiary recommend both Jessica Jones and Daredevil (personally I have a preference for Jessica Jones).

Marvel on Netflix DaredevilOn the heels of that good news, though, some not-so-great news has come to light – that being that fans will probably have to wait until 2018 for Jessica Jones season two and Daredevil season 3. As the list of Marvel on Netflix shows grows, it seems that the streaming service is focusing on new series instead – Luke Cage before the end of 2016, and in 2017, The Defenders and Iron Fist.

Although I’m excited to see more Marvel on Netflix, I’m definitely disappointed that we will likely have to wait until 2018 to see more of the two shows I’ve already grown to love. Are you more excited for the new Marvel shows, or do you wish they would bring Daredevil and Jessica Jones back sooner? Let us know in the comments!
