“Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series” Coming in 2017!

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Telltale Series

Telltale announced the upcoming five-episode Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series at “The Game Awards”. Read on to know more details about the series.

We got a hint about Telltale working with Marvel last month and now we have confirmation! The first episode of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series will be released sometime in 2017. Furthermore, it will be available for PC, consoles, and mobile devices.

This is what Kevin Burner, the Co-Founder and CEO of Telltale Games had to say:

“The energizing blend of humor, emotion, teamwork, and full-on sci-fi action-adventure of the Guardians provides an enormously satisfying space to explore through Telltale’s unique style of interactive storytelling. In Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series, players will take on multiple roles within the ragtag band of heroes, and take the pilot’s seat in directing their escapades around the universe. We are always honored to be working with the best creative partners and storytellers in entertainment, and working with Marvel on this series leaves us excited to share what we’ve been developing when it premieres in 2017.”

I’m excited that the game will allow players to control different characters. I’m looking forward to seeing how different the options for answers and actions will be depending on the GotG member you’ll be controlling. Rocket’s probably going to want to destroy everything in sight. Also, will Groot’s answers only consist of him saying his name? How will that even work? Select “Groot” to agree with someone or select “GROOT!!!” when you disagree?

Joy Ong, the Senior Vice President, Games & Innovation, Marvel Entertainment also had some thoughts to share:

“With story at the core of everything that Marvel creates, who better to team with than master storytellers Telltale Games[?] Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series fully showcases Marvel and Telltale’s rich legacy of storytelling, and fans will find themselves immersed in an original, character-driven narrative. As part of our strategy to establish a new standard for Marvel games, this is certainly among the great titles to come.”

As with past Telltale games, a special GotG season pass disc will be available at retail as well. It will include the first episode. Players can also download subsequent episodes via online updates on their date of release.

While I haven’t watched the GotG feature film I’m looking forward to playing Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series. Telltale does an amazing job with storytelling and I have high hopes for the upcoming game series.

Are you excited for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series? Also, which GotG member you want to play as? Let us know.
