Meet the New Class: Check Out the Cast of the Doctor Who Spin Off

These are your newest “Class”-mates. Get it? No? Well, the upcoming Doctor Who spin-off is called Class, and we just got our first look at the cast.

BBC Three announced that the series, written by Patrick Ness, will star newcomers Greg Austin, Fady Elsayed, Sophie Hopkins, and Vivian Oparah, with Katherine Kelly (Coronation Street, Happy Valley) as their teacher.

If you’re ready to meet your new classmates, you can check out this vid featuring Patrick Ness introducing the cast:

“Time has looked at your faces now. And time never forgets…”

What if your planet was massacred and you were the sole survivor?

What if a legendary figure out of space and time found you a place to hide?

But what if the things that want to kill you have tracked you down?

And worst of all, what if you haven’t studied for your A-Levels…?”

The series will follow these four sixth form students at Coal Hill School as they navigate the turbulence of being a teenager with a little added stress. The walls of time and space are thinning and there’s something coming through. Dun dun dun! It’s all very dramatic, but then everything dramatic when you’re in high school.

Coal Hill School’s history with Doctor Who goes way back to the first episode in 1963 – the Doctor’s granddaughter Susan was a student. More recently, Coal Hill School came back into focus as Clara Oswald was teaching there. The school has got a long history with the Doctor, so it will be interesting to see how this new Class fit into the story.

We don’t really know all that much about the spin off, apart from the vaguely ominous description above, so it’s nice to get a little more info. Although there’s not much we can tell from a few pictures except that at least they are not all white.
