Netflix Just Dropped A New Sizzle Reel for ‘The Order’ at SDCC

The Order Season 1 courtesy of NetflixNetflix’s magic-laced drama The Order had a full room for their San Diego Comic Con panel today. The new season doesn’t start production until next month, but there was something special released for impatient fans: a new sizzle reel from Season One.

One of the best things about San Diego Comic Con is the flood of new content. It helps tide fans over between seasons — or in Netflix’s case, during the year-long wait for new content after you’ve consumed an entire season in a hectic three-day binge. Even when it’s not all new footage, it’s fun to look at things from a different angle. (Why else would we watch so many fan vids?) That’s why fans were excited to see Netflix’s new sizzle reel for The Order today.

Now that it’s been released, you can watch for yourself.

If this is the first you’ve seen of Netflix’s The Order, you’re not alone. It kind of snuck under people’s radar for a while there, but the fanbase is up and running now. Here’s the official description:

Created/written and executive produced by Dennis Heaton (Motive) and Shelley Eriksen (co-creator of Private Eyes), The Order follows college freshman Jack Morton (Jake Manley) who joins a fabled secret society, The Order, where he is thrust into a world of magic, monsters, and intrigue. As Jack goes deeper, he uncovers dark family secrets and an underground battle between werewolves and the magical dark arts.

Not mentioned in this is the co-lead, Alyssa, played by Sarah Grey. She’s a more seasoned magic user with the order, though she’s not a hundred percent in the loop about all their activities.

The Order feels aimed at a YA audience, but it’s still fun for older audiences. It’s equal parts college melodrama and supernatural action-drama, in an enjoyable way. There are also werewolves, which is always a plus for me. It’s definitely worth watching a few episodes to see whether you’re into it.

Feel free to get invested, too. Season 2 starts filming later this year with a release date in 2020, so you won’t be left hanging after the end of Season 1 (no spoilers here!).
