Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Manga Issue 20 Review – Ninja Technology

Boruto Manga issue 20 review Ninja Technology

If I’m to wait an entire month for a few pages of manga, I expect the plot to move forward. However, Boruto Naruto Next Generations Manga Issue 20, titled ‘Ninja Technology,’ dragged the story and was quite boring.

The main arc in the Boruto manga deals with an organization called Kara. However, there’s also an arc about the introduction of ninja weaponry that the current issues are heavily focusing on. ‘Ninja Technology’ showed Ao attacking Konohamaru and the kids inside the cave. Of course, the heroes survived and Boruto went on to deliver a lengthy spiel about the use of ninja technology.

According to Boruto, ninja technology is supposed to help people and not be used for destruction. In a sense, it felt like mangaka Mikio Ikemoto was trying to win readers over, even though the introduction of ninja tech doesn’t make any sense. Yes, I get that the world needs to progress. However, focusing too much on different ninja tools instead of ninja skills and jutsu takes away from the charm that attracted people to the Naruto franchise in the first place. I don’t think anyone is interested in seeing ninjas fight each other with guns.

As far as the plot is concerned, we still got no information about what escaped (or was taken) from the fallen blimp. Furthermore, while Mugino (Konohamaru’s teammate) sacrificed himself to let the others escape, I can’t understand why Konohamaru decided it wasn’t a good idea to go back and check if Mugino was really dead.

Obito Uchiha was able to survive being crushed by a giant boulder!

At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if Mugino reappears down the road to take revenge on Konohamaru for not coming back. Talk about poor writing, if that happens.
