One-Punch Man Season 2 Will Premiere April 2019

One-Punch Man season 2

I have been waiting ages for this news. We finally have a release date for One-Punch Man season 2!

Earlier today, a short teaser video for One-Punch Man season 2 at the One-Punch Man School Festival Event. The video revealed that the new season will be premiering in April 2019!

The official announcement came via a tweet from VIZ Media, which posted the same teaser video. The video doesn’t contain much footage, just a few clips and a sort of montage of character quotes with voice overs.

It was also confirmed at the event that JAM Project will perform the opening theme. In addition, we were treated to a new poster featuring Saitama, my precious cyborg baby Genos, and new character Garou. The image is by character designer Chikashi Kubota.

One-Punch Man season 2

One-Punch Man, based on the manga written by One and illustrated by Yusuke Murata, is the story of Saitama, a nontraditional superhero who is able to defeat even the strongest of opponents with a single punch. Along with his trusty apprentice Genos, a mostly cybernetic teenager, Saitama defends his city from evil.

Garou, if you remember from season 1, was once a student in Bang’s (aka Silver Fang) dojo, but he went wild and defeated all of the other top students. His first mention is in episode 10, “Unparalleled Peril”. Judging by both the poster and the video, it looks as though Garou will be the primary antagonist of One-Punch Man season 2. Hikaru Midorikawa will voice Garou.

Here is the official synopsis:

Saitama is a hero who only became a hero for fun. After three years of “special training,” he’s become so strong that he’s practically invincible. In fact, he’s too strong—even his mightiest opponents are taken out with a single punch. Now, the great seer Madame Shibabawa’s prediction about the Earth being doomed seems to be coming true as the frequency of monster incidents escalates. Alongside Genos, his faithful disciple, Saitama begins his official hero duties as a member of the Hero Association, while Garou, a man utterly fascinated by monsters, makes his appearance.

The main cast will be reprising their roles in season 2 including Makoto Furukawa as Saitama, Kaito Ishikawa as Genos, Yuuki Kaji as Onsoku no Sonic (Speed-o’-Sound Sonic), Yūichi Nakamura as Mumen Rider, and Kazuhiro Yamaji as Bang.

I am beyond excited for the return of One-Punch Man. I fell in love with this delightfully ridiculous superhero anime primarily because of my precious cyborg baby, but also because it’s wonderfully irreverent and just a really good time. I cannot wait for the new season!
