The drama-filled docuseries following the lives of a group of adult entertainers is coming back! OUTtv has renewed X-Rated: NYC for two more seasons. The franchise (yes, it’s a franchise now) will also get an X-Rated: LA spin-off!

Premiering on September 18, 2022, I decided to watch X-Rated: NYC because I’m very into checking out whatever Topher Cusumano develops. I got to know about him through Slag Wars: The Next Destroyer (go watch it right now!) and since then I have been hooked.

The content Cusumano creates is unapologetically queer and I’m here for it. While seeing good-looking queer people being a mess onscreen is fun, the narrative makes sure to feature some thoughtful conversations about queer representation, what is meant by embracing one’s sexuality, addressing discrimination, and a lot more.

While fictional characters depicting queer lives in media is important, giving actual queer people a platform to tell their stories (the good and the bad) is important too.

I enjoyed watching the six-episodes long X-Rated: NYC season 1 because it too had a bunch of moments that made me “think” as the docuseries showcased the lives of adult entertainers Boomer Banks, Max Konnor, Joey Mills, and Dante Colle.

With how things ended in the finale, I’m glad to know the X-Rated: NYC series will be coming back for two more seasons. As for whether the original cast will return or new co-leads will be added to the OG group… well, as of writing this piece, I have no idea.

You can watch my reaction and review videos covering the entire first season over at The Geekiary YouTube channel

And while I wait for the X-Rated franchise to return, I’m definitely looking forward to the second season of Hot Haus which is supposed to be released very soon.

You can go ahead and binge-watch X-Rated: NYC season 1 right now on OUTtv.

Have fun!

  1. This looks like some low budget web series. I see it is a ‘docuseries’ but it is another way to say Reality TV. I like how wiki describes them as ‘documents purportedly unscripted real-life situations’ and is also correct that ‘Other criticisms…they glamorize vulgarity.’
