Gotham 3×20: Pretty Hate Machine

Gotham Season 3 episode 20 Pretty Hate Machine

This week Gotham seemed to cram everything it could into “Pretty Hate Machine.” It made sense considering next week is the two-hour finale, but it didn’t make for an enjoyable episode.

The only interesting thing that happened in the episode was Lee’s plan. Pretty Hate Machine showed Lee declaring her love for Gordon and wanting to be with him. Of course, they couldn’t be together unless he infected himself with the virus.

I have to admit that I was surprised when Gordon injected himself. I wasn’t sure if the writers would go down such a route. But I’m glad they did because I’ve always wanted to see a darker version of Jim Gordon.

Will he remain infected? No. With numerous citizens now having the virus too, the finale will definitely reveal a cure. It will probably be made by Lucius Fox off-screen somewhere.

As for Lee, the writers have ruined her character. Making her go crazy does nothing for her, except show how sexy Morena Baccarin can be. I wonder if they’ll kill her off next week or she’ll go away again.

Coming to the rest of the characters, the Nygmobblepot war seems to be going nowhere. Ed refuses to kill Penguin until he calls him the Riddler and we all know that isn’t going to happen. I have no idea what the writers have planned for those two.

With Fish Mooney coming back for Oswald, it’ll be interesting to see what she does next. Clearly, she won’t let Barbara maintain control of Gotham’s underworld. My guess is that Butch and Tabitha will betray Barbara, and Fish or Penguin will take the throne.

While all of the storylines were mentioned in “Pretty Hate Machine,” the whole thing felt like a boring setup for the finale. That’s why I don’t have much to say about it.

Did you watch Gotham this week? What did you think of “Pretty Hate Machine”? Where is Baby Bruce’s clone? Let us know.
