Breaking Glass Pictures has released the queer drama Like Me on VOD and digital platforms. The film will have its DVD debut come March 21, 2023. Serving as the debut feature from writer/director Eyal Kantor, Like Me is about a queer high school senior going through a whole lot.

Starring Yoav Keren, Mendi Barsheshet, Gal Amitai, and Danny Gava, the premise of Like Me deals with our lead character named Tom being forced by his father to find a new home. Tom’s only got two weeks to figure it out. He soon finds himself in a relationship with an older fashion photographer. Tom’s also secretly in love with his close friend named Gilad.

I mean, the narrative doesn’t seem the most original. We have had our share of stories of young queer men entering “predatory-ish” or “exploitative” relationships with older queer individuals while also being in love with their best friends. However, having said that, I did find the trailer to be intriguing. The actors seem to be doing a good job in their respective roles. And I think the narrative will dive into Tom’s mental state. And so, while not the most original, it will all come down to execution. And the trailer gives me hope.

Like Me had its world premiere at the  2022 Guadalajara International Film Festival, where it played in Premio Maguey Competition. The movie then went on to play at the AMOR Festival Santiago del Chile, OutSouth Queer Film Festival, Outshine Film Festival- Fort Lauderdale, and the Tel Aviv International LGBT Film Festival.

Here’s the trailer!

I don’t know if it was intentional or not, but in that shot where Tom is kissing the photographer’s hand, the shadow on the wall does make the photographer look like the devil.
