Queer Film ‘The Miseducation of Cameron Post’ Gets Trailer and Release Date

The Miseducation of Cameron Post release FilmRise

After experiencing trouble finding a distributor even after winning the Grand Jury Prize – 2018 Sundance Film Festival (U.S. Dramatic Competition), The Miseducation of Cameron Post will be released this August courtesy of FilmRise.

While we have been seeing more queer content being produced, especially on the small screen, most of it (especially movies) revolve around the male experience. That’s why I am excited to finally watch The Miseducation of Cameron Post, because it tells the story of a young girl coming to terms with her sexuality.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Based on the celebrated novel by Emily M. Danforth, The Miseducation of Cameron Post
follows the titular character (Chloë Grace Moretz) as she is sent to a gay conversion therapy center after getting caught having sex with the prom queen. Run by the strict Dr. Lydia Marsh (Jennifer Ehle) and her brother, Reverend Rick (John Gallagher Jr.) — himself an example of how those in the program can be “cured” — the center is populated by teens “struggling with same-sex attraction.” In the face of outlandish discipline, dubious methods, and earnest Christian rock songs, Cameron forms an unlikely gay community, including the amputee stoner Jane (Sasha Lane) and the Lakota Two-Spirit, Adam (Forrest Goodluck). In creating a family on her own terms, she learns what it means to empower herself and have confidence in her identity.

The Miseducation of Cameron Post was directed by Desiree Akhavan, who is also credited as the screenwriter with Cecilia Frugiuele. It stars Chloë Grace Moretz, John Gallagher Jr., Sasha Lane, Forrest Goodluck, Jennifer Ehle, Emily Skeggs, and Owen Campbell.

The upcoming film was produced by Cecilia Frugiuele, Jonathan Montepare, Michael B. Clark, and Alex Turtletaub. Desiree Akhavan and Olivier Kaempfer served as executive producers.

FilmRise will release The Miseducation of Cameron Post in New York on August 3, 2018, and in additional cities (including Los Angeles) on August 10, 2018.

Also, feel free to watch the female-centric queer film Disobedience while you wait. It stars Rachel Weisz and Rachel McAdams.

  1. More likely, the Americans found out that Akhavan is a British government employed propatainment agent and needed to get out of America fast and permanently. They’ve been making a lot of these depopulation propaganda fictions against America since the Americans offed the Brokeback Mountain pretender British actor Ledger, which is what he was. The production ring responsible for this junk have been whittled to the bone by the American counter-forces since then, but the Brits keep making them. An awful lot more of these propatainment strikes today than when the terrorist bomb was fused with Desert Hearts, but they are being steadily and surely eradicated at the entry points with certain success. Life goes on.
