Fans of Ronen Rubinstein can soon see him in an upcoming thriller titled Smiley Face Killers. Lionsgate will be releasing the film come December 8, 2020.

The movie Smiley Face Killers is from novelist Bret Easton Ellis (American Psycho) and director Tim Hunter (River’s Edge). It stars Ronen Rubinstein (9-1-1: Lone Star), Crispin Glover (Alice in Wonderland), and Mia Serafina (Crowded).

According to the press release, Lionsgate will make Smiley Face Killers available on Digital, On-Demand, Blu-ray, and DVD on December 8, 2020.

The upcoming film has been inspired by true events and related conspiracy. Here’s the official synopsis:

As a strange wave of mysterious drownings of male college students plagues the California coast, Jake Graham (Rubinstein) struggles to keep his life together at school. Finding himself stalked by a hooded figure (Glover) driving an unmarked van, Jake fears he may become the next victim in the killers’ horrific spree.

Here’s the latest trailer!

I got to know about Ronen Rubinstein from the 9-1-1: Lone Star TV series over at Fox. He plays the openly queer character TK Strand on said show who also has a romance going on with a character named Carlos (Rafael Silva). Their ship’s name is Tarlos and it has garnered quite a passionate fandom. While I’ve had my issues with how Tarlos was handled on the show, I’m looking forward to seeing the two characters again. I just want them to be happy.

For those wondering, 9-1-1: Lone Star has already been renewed for a second season. Apparantly, the upcoming season will address the current global health crisis. Actress Gina Torress has been added to the regular cast for the sophomore outing. The series is currently on track for a 2021 premiere.

Unfortunately, actress Liv Tyler had to drop out of the second season, apparently, due to traveling concerns related to you know what.

Anyway, I’m glad to see Rubinstein getting more work. He recently showed up in the horror/thriller title No Escape alongside Teen Wolf actress Holland Roden.
