Head to Kinokuniya Bookstores for a Special Yuri On Ice Pop-Up Shop!

Tokyo Girls Collection Yuri on Ice pop-up

It’s a beautiful day in New York City today, and I’ve got gift cards burning a hole in my pocket from my birthday two weeks ago, so I headed out to enjoy the weather and spend money that isn’t mine. Imagine my surprise when I walked into Kinokuniya and discovered that they were having a special Yuri on Ice pop-up shop, in partnership with Sanrio and the Tokyo Girls Collection!

I can’t believe I didn’t know about this sooner! I must be slipping! I didn’t buy anything (my gift card is only $15 and I currently have no money otherwise, everything I wanted was more expensive), but I took a look at everything they were offering at this special Yuri on Ice pop-up shop.

For this special Yuri on Ice pop-up shop, featuring items inspired by Sanrio and Tokyo Girls Collection, there is a small selection of merchandise from each partner. The Sanrio collection features the most selection. Each item pairs one of the three main characters with a Sanrio character: Yurio is with Hello Kitty, Yuri is with Pochacco, and Victor and Makkachin are with Pom Pom Purin. You can buy memo pads, stickers, rubber and acrylic charms, hand towels, file folders, iPhone cases, memo pads, and acrylic passholders. The Tokyo Girls Collection showcases Yuri, Victor, and Yurio in some very fashionable ensembles – and you can buy them on acrylic stands, posters, pins, and postcards.

This isn’t the first time that Kinokuniya has held a Yuri on Ice pop-up shop. In fact, the last one they held was around this time last year. I went to that one opening day, and it was mass chaos! The store was almost completely cleaned out by the time I made it in. They ran out of merchandise much earlier than planned. For this special Yuri on Ice pop-up shop, they learned from their mistakes and have imposed a limit on the amount of items you can purchase. (FYI, it’s one item per type – poster, keychain, etc. – per customer.)

The special Yuri on Ice pop-up shop will be in New York City until April 28th, then will move to the Kinokuniya in Carrollton, Texas, on May 12th. If you’re nearby either of those locations, you should pop in and take a look!
