Star Wars: The Lightsaber Collection Really is the Definitive Lightsaber Guide

I received a copy of Star Wars: The Lightsaber Collection to peruse in advance of its October 20th release, and wow, is it a beautiful book!

The new Star Wars: The Lightsaber Collection book absolutely lives up to the description “the definitive lightsaber guide”. It contains a wealth of information, including history on lightsaber creation, design, and training, but in my opinion, the really fun parts are the character blurbs that go along with the lightsaber pictures and descriptions. If you haven’t watched, say, The Clone Wars, or even if you’ve watched all of the things but haven’t read any of the novels, The Lightsaber Collection gives you more than just lightsabers. The descriptions themselves aren’t long, but the important part is that they tell you where you can find out more about characters like Cin Drallig, Quinlan Vos, and Taron Malicros.

As for the lightsabers themselves, whether you wanted to know more about the history behind Kylo Ren’s lightsaber design, how crossguard sabers like Stallan Gios’s worked, or the protosaber introduced in the Vader Immortal VR experience, all of that and more is included in Star Wars: The Lightsaber Collection. And at the very end? A pictorial index of every lightsaber included in the book, which was both a pleasant surprise and really fun to look through.

In a previous article, I mentioned the characters and lightsabers in The Lightsaber Collection that I was most excited about, including Darth Maul, Kylo Ren, and Asajj Ventress. While Ventress’s description focused more on her character than on her lightsaber, Maul’s and Kylo Ren’s did not disappoint – and I was also surprised to find all of the Inquisitors included, not to mention the Darksaber, the Jedi temple guard sabers, and even the training lightsabers.

I knew from the spreads I saw prior to receiving my copy that Star Wars: The Lightsaber Collection was going to be a really neat addition to my SWU book collection, but it’s also a book to be displayed and shared.

Star Wars: The Lightsaber Collection is available for preorder prior to its October 20, 2020 release for $26.99 on Amazon.
