DC Comics: The Big Book Of Super Hero Bedtime Stories – Review

The Big Book of Super Hero Bedtime Stories

The Big Book of Super Hero Bedtime Stories by Noah Smith is one of the new titles released by Downtown Bookworks for their Fall lineup. As the name states, this book is about teaching the importance of proper sleep to kids. Even superheroes need to rest.

I was provided a free copy of DC Comics: The Big Book of Super Hero Bedtime Stories for review. The opinions are my own.

I continue to look forward to the DC Comics-inspired books from Downtown Bookworks. I’m a huge fan of the retro art these titles feature. And seeing the kids in my family excitedly going through the pages always makes me smile. The DC Comics: The Big Book of Super Hero Bedtime Stores was no different. Meant for ages 3 and up, author Noah Smith did a good job of sharing enjoyable little stories showcasing how certain iconic characters rest.

Here’s the official description:

Super heroes’ days are action-packed. They race around the world, battle the baddest of bad guys, and outwit villains to keep people safe. They are also busy inventing gadgets and super hero suits and keeping the environment safe from harm—and some of them even have day jobs! But just like everyone else, after a long, hard day (of saving the world), Batman, Batgirl, Green Lantern, and The Flash head home to rest. Superman, Supergirl, Hawkman, Cyborg, Raven, and the others get ready for bed and curl up to get a good night’s sleep so they can be strong, smart, and powerful for another day.
The Big Book of Bedtime Stories for Super Heroes provides a solid introduction to the DC Universe and is a wonderfully calming read for kids who need a good rest.

I liked how this book went over different things people should rest. For example, Black Canary has to rest her voice. Hawkgirl has to rest her wings. Superman has to rest his mind and muscles. Even Green Lanterns have to dim their light.

The importance of sleep can’t be stressed enough. And yes, we do end up ignoring sleep as adults. So here’s to hoping certain grownups also get to learn a few things after going through this title.

The MSRP is $16.99 (US) and $19.99 (CA).

This hardcover book (32 pages) features a metallic paper cover with the dimensions being 10″ x 10″.
