“SYNDUALITY Echo of Ada” Online Service Terminates in 2027

SYNDUALITY Echo of Ada‘s online service will cease after May 2027. The game will move to an offline version exclusively after the closure. That also means no more events and updates after the content scheduled for October 2026.

Other than that, digital currency and other in-game items will go bye-bye for this title on December 18 of this year. More dates will be announced soon for transferring save data and other player-related details as the team nears online closure to offline play.

This is a remarkable speed to end online capabilities. After all, SYNDUALITY Echo of Ada released on January 24, 2025, outside Japan. The game came out just a day earlier in Japan, running on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

Here is the official description for the game:

“SYNDUALITY Echo of Ada takes place in 2222, years after a mysterious poisonous rain called The Tears of the New Moon wiped out most of humanity and birthed deformed creatures that now hunt the population. Amidst the calamity, humans build an underground haven named Amasia, where they discover and begin to collaborate with forms of artificial intelligence called Magus.

In this PvPvE extraction shooter, players, aided by an AI partner known as a Magus, must survive against xenomorphic creatures and other players in the hunt for resources.”

Here’s the announcement trailer for the closure of the online service.

SYNDUALITY Echo of Ada is actually part of the Synduality universe. There’s an anime titled Synduality: Noir available on Disney+ and Hulu, and on Japanese media outlets including TV Tokyo and TV Osaka.

A manga spinoff called Synduality: Ellie and a novel called Synduality: Kaleido round out the franchise.

Now, this isn’t the first time I’ve seen a video announcement for the cessation of online services for a game. But certainly, this is the first occurrence where a video game about Artificial Intelligence and an apocalypse was terminated and moved to an offline platform in such a manner.

I don’t think this is self-referential to AI in gaming‘s big moment. I just hope such an event doesn’t become a meta commentary on AI and human life.
