In news that made me very happy, Teen Titans Go! got renewed for season number eight. Also, the animated crossover event Teen Titans Go! & DC Super Hero Girls: Mayhem in the Multiverse will be available on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital come May 24, 2022.

The current announcement was made by WarnerMedia Kids & Family. As a fan of Teen Titans Go! I’m glad that the animated series will be coming back for an eight season. And while I’m not the biggest DC Super Hero Girls fan out there (I’m talking about the reboot), I’m looking forward to watching Teen Titans Go! & DC Super Hero Girls: Mayhem in the Multiverse.

Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness who? Ha!

From Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, the upcoming crossover event will be available to fans on Blu-ray Combo Pack (USA $24.98 SRP; Canada $29.98 SRP), DVD (USA $19.98 SRP; Canada $24.98 SRP), and Digital starting May 24, 2022.

You can also catch the movie event on Cartoon Network premiering Saturday, May 28, 2022, and then on HBO Max beginning June 28, 2022.

The synopsis for the film reads:

With the help of an ancient Kryptonian power, Lex Luthor unites the world’s Super-Villains to capture all of Earth’s Super Heroes, until … only the DC Super Hero Girls are left to stop the Legion of Doom. Our heroes must cross dimensions to rescue their fellow Super Heroes from the Phantom Zone, but a fortuitous wrong turn leads them to Titans Tower – where they find much-needed allies in the Teen Titans. The young Super Heroes discover their combined strength – and usual comic relief – are essential to save the day in this blockbuster event!

Here’s the trailer!

Teen Titans Go! & DC Super Hero Girls: Mayhem in the Multiverse has been directed by Matt Peters (Injustice, Justice League Dark: Apokolips War) and Katie Rice (Animaniacs) from a script by Jase Ricci (Tangled: The Series). The producers are Jeff Curtis and James Ricci. The Supervising Producer is James Tucker (The Death and Return of Superman), with the Executive Producer being Sam Register.

Teen Titans Go! & DC Super Hero Girls: Mayhem in the Multiverse – Special Features
Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD include:

  • From the DC Vault:
    • Teen Titans Go!: Season 2: Operation Tin Man
    • Teen Titans Go!: Season 4: Titan Saving Time
    • DC Super Hero Girls: Season 2: #SmallVictories

I have to say that I’m a bit disappointed that the upcoming home release didn’t include more extra content for fans to enjoy. I would have liked a special behind-the-scenes look at the animation process and some footage from the voice acting sessions.

As for the Teen Titans Go! renewal, an eight season was picked up by Cartoon Network from Warner Bros. Animation. Season eight is supposed to premiere later this year. New characters to look forward to are Beard Hunter and King Shark (along with many others). The animated series will reach the 400th episode milestone with season eight.

While I get that certain people don’t want to watch Teen Titans Go! I urge you to give it a try. There’s a reason it is the longest-running animated series in DC history!

The undeniable success of Teen Titans Go!, with its signature blend of action and subversive Super Hero humor, is a testament to the phenomenal work of executive producer Pete Michail and the show team,” shared Sam Register, President, Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios. “Seven seasons, one theatrical feature film, multiple specials, celebrity cameos, and no end in sight, this show has carved out its own lane in the acclaimed legacy established by the original Teen Titans animated series.”

Debuting back in 2013, Teen Titans Go! has aired a total of 345 episodes. After going on hiatus on December 8, 2021, season seven will air a new episode on February 21, 2022.
