Talks about a new Terminator movie have been going on for years. Some wanted a sequel while some showed interest in a reboot. In true Hollywood fashion, a reboot by the name ‘Terminator: Genesis’ was confirmed and then the rumor windmill started to churn out casting predictions. However, the film seems to have found its new John Connor and Kyle Reese!

It has been confirmed that Jai Courtney will be playing the role of Kyle Reese in the Terminator Reboot. Fans of the franchise would remember the character as the time-travelling savior, sent by John Connor to protect his mother, who ends up being his father. Actor Jason Clarke will be playing the role of John Connor, the only salvation for the human race against the machines.

Fans of Game of Thrones must be looking forward to the film because Emilia Clarke will play the iconic role of Sarah Connor, brilliantly played by Linda Hamilton in the first two installments of the franchise. Emilia knows how to play a strong woman, so she might be able to do her role justice. The role was also played by another GoT star, Lena Heady, in the Terminator TV series.

Jai Courtney also has action experience. He played Varro in Spartacus: Blood and Sand, starred in A Good Day to Die Hard, and will be playing Eric in Divergent. My concern is that with every reboot being compared to the original is inevitable. For me, Linda Hamilton WAS Sarah Connor and that’s why most of the burden will definitely be on Emilia’s shoulders. Will Daenerys Targaryen be able to fight off a machine that’s out to kill her?

The good thing is that Arnold Schwarzenegger will be returning as The Terminator. If you aren’t familiar with the first film, Arnold’s character was the main antagonist sent to kill Sarah Connor. So, that’s going to be fun to see.

The film will be directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World).  We will be able to see it roll into theaters sometime in 2015.

What are your thoughts regarding the upcoming film? Will the new cast be able to play the much loved and iconic characters? Share below!

  1. To me, Linda Hamilton is and always will be Sarah Connor. She was both vulnerable and strong, mother and warrior, and always made me want to be a badass like her. Personally I don’t like the last two movies, and my personal headcanon stops after Judgement Day. I’ll be willing to watch the new movie because I like the actors involved. But I won’t be able to help myself from comparing them to the original. To me, it’s more than just being about to play Sarah as strong, Emilia needs to be able to show her at her weakest as well. She’s done a great job on GOT, so I can only hope she will use what she’s learned there and apply it to this movie.

    1. I agree…if the reboot is going back to the first part in the series then Emilia needs to be able to portray the confusion, the weaknesses, etc. that the character had when she realized her destiny. Let’s see how it all works out. Emilia can act and it’s a treat to watch her scenes in GoT. And my headcanon stops after Judgement Day too lol
