The 3 Best Things I Noticed in The 100 Season 3 Trailer

the 100 s3

Did you see it? Did you see that? Way earlier than I expected, the CW dropped the trailer for season 3 of The 100, which finally returns to our TV screens on January 21st. And after having seen it, I cannot believe that I am now expected to wait five weeks for this show to come back! So much is going on that I don’t even know where to start, but let’s see if we can pinpoint some of the highlights!

1. Relationship changes OF ALL KINDS!

Who was that couple engaging in a steamy liplock? Why, it’s Abby and Kane! Bet you didn’t see that coming! Also, Lexa and Clarke come face-to-face again – something I was not expecting to see teased so soon. Alas, I should have known better. Of course they are going to capitalize on the chemistry between Eliza Taylor (Clarke) and Alicia Debnam-Carey (Lexa). Could Clarke’s walkabout have led her to a greater understanding of Lexa’s decision last season? Because she’s holding a knife to Lexa’s throat at the beginning of the trailer, and then I’m pretty sure they are being decidedly more intimate later.

And be still my poor, Blake-loving heart, but I do not like seeing strife between favorite siblings Bellamy and Octavia. Their relationship is one of the best on the show, and it makes my heart hurt to see them having such huge problems. What could Bellamy have done to upset Octavia so greatly? Does it have anything to do with Lincoln? Speaking of problems, best friends Monty and Jasper are still at odds after Monty’s part in what happened to Maya.

2. Monty and Raven get some meaty material!

I think one thing that all fans of The 100 can agree on is that Monty is a saint and he needs to be in everything ever. So I’m extremely pleased to see that his storyline seems to be getting meatier this season. He’s fighting with his best friend, clearly struggling with his role in the genocide of the Mountain Men, and his life will be in danger.

And Raven! Beautiful, wonderful Raven looks to be getting a story arc that has absolutely nothing to do with a guy, and for that I am forever grateful. Now, if they could just get over this penchant for putting her through unnecessary pain, that would be fantastic. Get her a puppy or something, jeez. Stop torturing the girl; she doesn’t deserve it.

3. More diversity!

The 100 has been pretty good about casting diverse actors to play its characters, and I’m glad to see that they’ve continued that tradition into season 3. Was that Emmanuelle Vaugier I spotted on what looked like too futuristic a set to be on Earth? Who is that new soldier gearing everyone up for war? Even the group shots show a lot of different faces, which makes me really excited for new characters!

What are your favorite parts of the trailer? What are you most excited to see in season 3? Let us know in the comments!
