The Bitching Dead Issue 43 had Bekah, Tara and I cover episodes 6, 7, and 8 of Fear the Walking Dead season 7 and episodes 8, 9, and 10 of TWD: World Beyond season 2.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond finally came to an end. As far as the ratings are concerned, the YA-centric TWD spin-off just couldn’t garner impressive live-viewer numbers. The season 1 premiere, back in October of 2020, was able to attract 1.59 million live-viewers. However, it continued to the downhill trend from there. The premiere of season 2 got 0.75 million live-viewers with episode 10, the finale, closing at only 0.42 million live-viewers.

While we (kind of) liked the idea behind having a TWD spin-off with a YA feel, the overall execution was just bland. The ensemble just couldn’t hold our interest and the narrative beats were weak.

Anyway, with TWD: World Beyond finale not really giving us a proper conclusion, let’s see if some of the main cast appears in other The Walking Dead shows down the line.

As for Fear the Walking Dead season 7, its ratings have been falling, too. The season 7 premiere got a million people to tune in with the mid-season finale, episode 8, attracting 0.84 million live-viewers. It will be interesting to see if the numbers rise due to the return of actress Kim Dickens as Madison Clark. For those wondering, Fear the Walking Dead has been renewed for an eighth season. Sigh!

Here are the highlights from The Bitching Dead issue 43 in no particular order!

  • No one likes the hairstyle the show gave Jadis.
  • Why the heck didn’t Jadis realize Huck was lying to her? Huck’s acting during their scenes together was not good.
  • Apparently, there’s a new zombie virus variant on the loose in France and we’re supposed to care?
  • The people in The Walking Dead franchise can’t even handle slow-walking zombies. We highly doubt they’re capable of handling faster and more aggressive ones created by the new variant.
  • Al using the old-timey war canon for a surprise attack was fun to watch even though her being able to use it in the first place didn’t make sense.
  • There’s not a lot of chemistry between Al and her love interest, Isabelle. But, oh well, at least, Al got some kind of happy ending for now.
  • There was no reason for Al to break her camera. Isabelle didn’t even tell her to do it.
  • Morgan continues to be annoying.
  • Victor continues to be annoying.
  • Due to Victor’s criteria for allowing certain kinds of individuals into his tower, Tara and I should be able to make it in. After that, both of us will figure out a way to get Bekah inside, too.
  • Victor’s portrait giving off Dorian Gray vibes was a nice touch.
  • What is up with The Walking Dead franchise and having characters lose their left arm? Why not their right arm?
  • While we were excited to finally see Alicia again, we didn’t appreciate her being a complete mess.
  • Apparently, Alicia’s been fighting off a zombie-bite infection for more than two months now. The fact she’s still alive doesn’t really make sense. Maybe she’s fighting another kind of infection due to slicing away her arm with an unclean weapon and not an actual zombie bite? Hmmm.
  • Alicia using the bones from her sliced-off arm to make a prosthetic arm for herself was… a choice!
  • Having Victor and Alicia go to war with each other is just weird.
