Legendary Comics has revealed the cover for the upcoming original graphic novel The Heart Hunter. The premise involves a world where everyone wears their hearts outside their body. Talk about wearing your heart on your sleeve. I love it!

For those who remember, I talked about The Heart Hunter being announced back in September 2019. In The Heart Hunter, though people’s hearts are outside their bodies, at least, they get to be immortal even if they can’t change or have children. However, there’s a catch. If you find your soulmate, both of you will turn mortal, be freed from the curse, and able to leave the island. Of course, there are those who don’t wish to become mortal and that’s where the Heart Hunters come in.

Those who wish to remain immortal pay Heart Hunters to go and kill their soulmates (rude!). The upcoming OGN involves a Heart Hunter named Psyche who is hired by the king to kill his soulmate. During her quest, Psyche will begin her journey of healing her broken heart and learning how to trust again.

In my opinion, reading all of those on paper makes me think such a story would do well as a live-action series. Let’s see how The Heart Hunter OGN is received when it’s released on August 3, 2021.

The writer is Mickey George with art by V. Gagnon. The editor is Legendary Comics’ Nikita Kannekanti. You can pre-order The Heart Hunter here.

As for other titles by Legendary Comics, there’s:

  • Championess – based on the real-life bare-knuckle boxer Elizabeth Wilkinson in eighteenth-century London from Tarun Shanker and Kelly Zekas.
  • Lupina – a six-part captivating saga about a young girl on a journey of revenge with her wolf companion from Eisner Award-nominated writer James F. Wright and artist Li Buszka.
  • The Witches of Silverlake – following Elliot Green and his coven of queer, teen witches in Los Angeles from singer-songwriter Simon Curtis.

I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for The Witches of Silverlake. You can get more information by visiting Legendary Comics’ official website, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

Founded in 2011, Legendary Comics also expands the scope of the cinematic universes of its parent company Legendary Entertainment, by bringing big-screen properties onto the comic book page such as Godzilla: Aftershock, Pacific Rim: Aftermath, and Skull Island: The Birth of Kong.

I already have The Heart Hunter on my reading list.

What about you?
