Boruto: Naruto Next Generations 1×18 Review: A Day in the Life of the Uzumaki Family

Boruto anime review episode 18 A Day in the Life of the Uzumaki Family

This week’s episode of Boruto showed the events that took place when Naruto was to be made Hokage. “A Day in the Life of the Uzumaki Family” also had some extra scenes to help Naruto bond with his son.

Some of you might already know that Naruto wasn’t able to attend his Hokage inauguration if you’ve read the mini manga story. “A Day in the Life of the Uzumaki Family” opened with Boruto looking over Himawari while she recovered from a fever. I’ve been wondering how the anime was going to adapt “The Day Naruto Became Hokage” as we already have a manga as well as an OVA.

Turns out that the episode showed Boruto remembering the events that made him decide not make Himawari upset anymore. It was fun to see how Himawari was able to awaken her Byakugan and accidentally prevent Naruto from attending the ceremony by closing his chakra points.

However, what I wasn’t expecting from “A Day in the Life of the Uzumaki Family” was how it had extra scenes that focused on some father-son time between Naruto and Boruto. While the two characters still have some issues to work on it was good to see that they do love each other. Also, one of the best scenes in the episode was when Boruto was told that his mother was the reigning Legendary Queen of Glutonny at Ichiraku Ramen. It’s always fun to see children trying to make sense of the things their parents did during their youth.

Though this was technically a filler episode, it served as a good way to show the awkwardness in Boruto and Naruto’s current relationship. Furthermore, next week is going to be the start of the Naruto Gaiden arc and we’ll be seeing Sasuke soon enough.

I do hope we get some extra scenes in the upcoming arc that further develops Salad as a character as well as focuses more on her relationship with her parents. Fingers crossed we get to see Sakura fighting the arc’s antagonist in full instead of the few panels we got in the manga.

What did you think of Boruto this week? Did you enjoy “A Day in the Life of the Uzumaki Family”? Let us know.
