Geekiary News Briefs! Yuri On Ice Tops Charts, Trailers for Voltron, Rings, and More!

Voltron Legendary Defender Netflix

Welcome to today’s Geekiary Briefs! We’ll be sharing new trailers for Voltron: Legendary Defender Season 2 and Rings, along with how Yuri!!! on Ice topped charts, Ariana Grande’s Final Fantasy debut, and more!

The official plot synopsis for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales has been released by Walt Disney Pictures. The upcoming film is aiming for a May 26, 2017 release date. I’m personally experiencing Pirates of the Caribbean fatigue so I’m not sure if I’ll be watching the fifth installment. (via CBR)

Voltron: Legendary Defender Season 2 will premiere on January 20, 2017 on Netflix. Check out the trailer which includes some interesting plot points.

The trailer for horror film Rings has also been released. The film will hit U.S. theaters on February 3, 2017. Rings has been revealed to be set 13 years after the horror franchises’ first chapters.

Grammy-nominated singer and actress Ariana Grande will be making her debut as a character in Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. Ariana’s song “Touch It” has also been remixed and included in the game.

It seems that there is no stopping the Yaoi phenomenon that is Yuri!!! on Ice. The anime sold 35,453 copies of the first Blu-ray Disc volume (in the first three days) and 15,425 copies of the first DVD volume. Furthermore, the soundtrack sold 3,248 digital copies and approximately 44,935 CDs. With such impressive numbers, a season two feels very likely! (via Anime News Network)

Al Ewing’s U.S.Avengers Issue 1 focused on a new roster of superheroes. It also didn’t shy away from the queer romance between Iron Patriot and Enigma.

What did you think of today’s news briefs? Are you excited that Yuri!!! on Ice was able to sell so many copies? Any thoughts on Voltron: Legendary Defender Season 2? Let us know!
