Developer MyDearest has released a demo for their new adventure VR sci-fi mystery game Dyschronia: Chronos Alternate. Are you ready to solve a complex murder case?

The demo was previously only playable as part of Gamescom 2022. But now those interested in checking it out can join the Dyschronia Discord server “Chronos Haven” to gain access.

For those of you who don’t know, Dyschronia: Chronos Alternate takes place in the city of Astrum Close. The interesting thing about this fictional in-game city is that the crime rate is only 0.001%. There’s a “collective mentoring system” that ensures that residents of Astrum remain calm and safe, getting rid of any want to commit violent or illegal acts. So, you already know that things are going to go wrong because they always do.

The protagonist is named Hal Scion. He is a young investigator who has a special ability, called “Memory Dive”, that allows him to see into the past and also change it. That does sound like a very OP ability to have. But being a good guy, he uses this ability to collect evidence in his investigations. Hal takes up the case to solve the mystery behind the murder of the founder of Astrum Close.

By playing the newly released demo, you will be able to play through the Augmented Dreaming section of the game. This dream is shared by all residents of Astrum Close City and players will visit this location throughout the game. The demo features a puzzle section that gives you an idea of how Hal Scion goes about solving his investigations.

Here’s the trailer:

I do like the anime-style visuals. And as a published author of mystery novels myself, I am interested in figuring out the mystery featured in this game.

Dyschronia: Chronos Alternate has been described as a fully interactive, cinematic experience for players. Episode 1, of the planned three episodes, will be released on the Meta Quest II come September 22, 2022. You can go ahead and Wishlist the game on the Meta Quest store.
