Walking Dead news season 7

The question of whether or not The Walking Dead can deliver a real shock in the season seven premiere is on a lot of fans’ minds. Based on all of the Walking Dead news we’re receiving so close to said premiere, it’s obvious that they’re trying very hard to deliver.

WARNING: This Walking Dead news article contains speculation about season 7 as well as some vague comic book references/comparisons.

While the following Walking Dead news isn’t extremely recent, I think it’s important to point out that there is very possibly more than one victim from the season six finale. Den of Geek interviewed Jeffrey Dean Morgan earlier this month, and the Negan actor told them, “Negan’s not just going to kill one person in [the premiere]. He’s not afraid of bashing in skulls.” Personally I wonder if he’s trying to throw us off (there’s always the strong chance that he meant Negan would kill someone else, perhaps someone not even in The Group, later in the episode). Or, on the other hand, did he say something he wasn’t supposed to and later get in trouble with AMC? Because that’s a pretty big revelation if you consider the following:

Walking Dead News Norman ReedusNorman Reedus, who of course plays fan favorite Daryl Dixon, appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon this past week and commented on the season 7 premiere, “I imagine a lot of people will be kicking their television sets. I mean, it’s heavy. It’s really, really heavy.” Now, I don’t believe that Daryl is the one who dies, despite the clip that was released showing Dwight wearing Daryl’s infamous vest. But as The Wrap mentioned yesterday, the Season 7 sneak preview shows Rick after Negan’s kill, and the blood spatter is on Rick’s right cheek.

Could AMC still be trying to throw us off? Sure. After all, they did film every character dying to keep as many people in the dark as possible. And yes, Daryl was on Rick’s right – but he wasn’t the closest. Maggie was next to Rick, then Abraham, then Michonne, with Daryl, Rosita, and Glenn farther away.

I for one think killing Michonne at this point would be a cheap shot, especially as they’ve essentially put her in comic book Andrea’s place; Abraham, on the other hand, has pretty much served his purpose (and another character – Denise – already got his comic book death). However, with Maggie being pregnant, in a sick way Negan killing her would fit the idea of him killing more than one person in the premiere. I’m not sure I want AMC to go that far – what are your thoughts?

Finally, after AMC posted the following photo with the caption “You’ve been warned” yesterday, many outlets are speculating that we will also meet The Whisperers at some point this season.

While this could make sense (considering how the show picks and chooses and then often changes comic book story lines) without giving too much away I will say that I can’t imagine them not having to rush things if they try to cram both Negan and The Whisperers into one season…especially as the SDCC trailer apparently revealed that season 7 will also introduce another community – The Kingdom, with Ezekiel and (call me shocked) his tiger Shiva.
