This week’s Wednesday Webcomics is a double feature – first impressions of two new WebToon comics this week, 21st Century Knights & The Last Dimension. These are two exciting webcomics by talented creators that you should check out.

There are several new WebToon Original releases this month, but I want to highlight two this week. I more than recommend 21st Century Knights and The Last Dimension. Two fantastic webtoons with promise. Trust me, you won’t regret reading them.

21st Century Knights

Theresa, a knight who wears crocs, doesn’t participate in the duels between knights. Instead, she’s searching for a white-haired knight. In this world, knights wield ethereal weapons called Animas. With the help of an apartment neighbor, Jackson, she decides to fight in the duels. But her primary goal and new situation might as well lead to a bigger secret truth about the knight’s order.

Theresa is such a wonderfully complicated character. The type of character who lingers in your mind afterward. This story has memorable quirks and traits, engaging character dynamics, and exciting action sequences. I am so looking forward to where the creator takes their characters next. I’ve read their WebToon Canvas series, De Novo, so I’m ecstatic to see more of their work.

The Last Dimension

The Last Dimension

One of Fai’s visions (in the form of a nightmare) involves a sky and the institute she lives in collapsing. As an oracle, her visions have always come true, but this time she wants to prevent this one. The underground institute, Quianto, located in South America, is one of many around the world.

A war had destroyed most of Europe, and the radiation afterward caused mutations among some humans. These mutations – abilities called chondrias and the wielders of them MITs – had sparked interest from the military. Fai and other children like her are trained in the institute. When a group of transfer students from another institute arrives, two of them from Fai’s vision, she fears that her nightmare might come true after all.

I had the utmost pleasure of interviewing Leaf last year and featuring their webtoon (back when it was on WebToon Canvas) on one of my webcomic roundups. Readers, I have never been so proud. Leaf has come a long way. The improvement amazes me. We get a deeper glimpse into a well-constructed futuristic world. The tightened plot and complex character dynamics wow me. Prepare yourselves to get bowled over by Leaf’s breathtaking storytelling.
