Wynonna Earp at San Diego Comic-Con 2016

Wynonna Earp

Syfy’s Wynonna Earp has quickly taken off into near “cult” status since its debut in April 2016. Fans recognize that the series has a strong, progressive message but also doesn’t take itself too seriously. While participating in the press roundtable at San Diego Comic-Con 2016, I found the cast to be incredibly intelligent and passionate about the show. In fact, they are fans first.

IMG_0128IMG_0143 Although I am a bit late to the show, I found myself addicted after the first two episodes. The concept is unique enough in that is a horror-Western, but the fact that the main cast contains three women (one of which is a lesbian and one of which is bisexual) makes this one of the most diverse casts on the network. What really struck me in the press room, though, is how completely aware the cast is that they are doing something that matters. Dominique Provost-Chalkley and Melanie Scrofano in particular got very emotional about their fans, and about reIMG_0165presentation on the show and wIMG_0153ithin their own characters. It was very moving to be a part of the roundtable.

You can watch all the videos from the press room below. There was a lot of discussion about the progressive nature of the show, and how much the fans mean to the cast and crew of the show. Believe me, they want to do right by us! You will notice that the interviews mention the possibility of a season two. At the time of the press room, the series had not yet been renewed, but shortly after, we received news that Syfy greenlit season two!

The press roundtable included Melanie Scrofano (Wynonna), Dominique Provost-Chalkley (Waverly), Shamier Anderson (Agent Dolls), Tim Rozon (Doc Holliday), Katherine Barrell (Officer Haught), and Beau Smith who created the graphic novel on which the television series is based.

Please note that the videos below contain lots of discussion about the end of season one, including those bombshells in the last three episodes. They also contain speculation about what will happen in season two based on those bombshells, so be sure to watch at your own risk if you are not caught up.
