Yuri On Ice Pop-Up Shops Coming to America

Yuri On Ice Pop-Up Shop dates

We at The Geekiary love Yuri On Ice. In fact, some of you may be aware that it was this little ice-skating-anime-that-could that launched my love affair with sports anime. So imagine my joy when Kinokuniya Bookstores announced Yuri On Ice pop-up shops will launch in three locations in the United States. And one of them just happens to be in New York City. Which happens to be where I live.

USA Animate announced yesterday on their Twitter that there would be three Yuri On Ice pop-up shops at Kinokuniya Bookstores starting April 29. The shops are located in New York City, San Francisco, and Carrollton, Texas. (I can’t speak to the locations of the stores in the other cities, but NYC’s Kinokuniya is on 6th Avenue, across from Bryant Park!)

The promotion will be held from April 29th through May 31st, which according to the USA Animate Twitter account is longer than any other locations. For every $10 spent on YoI merchandise (character goods, excluding books or DVDs), you will get one of six bonus character PP coasters. Coasters are randomly chosen and only while supplies last.

As of right now, there seem to be no plans to open up shops at any of the other Kinokuniya Bookstores throughout the country, but it stands to reason that if these shops do enough business they could feasibly launch a few more. Yuri On Ice is incredibly popular, vastly outselling all other titles (like, by a lot), and it seems cruel to limit these pop-up shops to a few locations in a country as huge as the United States. So those of us who can make it to one of the three pop-up shops need to do our duty and buy as much as possible so that they may be tempted to open up more!
