The New ‘Zombieland: Double Tap’ Trailer Lays Sequel Drop Fears To Rest

Is it possible to be more hyped for Zombieland: Double Tap? APPARENTLY SO! There’s a new trailer out and it will lay all your fears of sequel drop – you know, when producers try so hard to recapture what worked the first time that they kill everything fans love – to rest.

We got our first taste of what Zombieland: Double Tap would be like back in January, when we saw a poster and learned the title. Now, we can actually reassure ourselves that this movie will stay true to the original’s style and tone. We might even get the elusive Even Better Sequel!

Judge for yourself:

A couple of things here:

  • I appreciate that Double Tap isn’t trying to be super cool or change the humor style of Zombieland. It’s a silly, laughing-at-the-apocalypse movie and it would feel wrong if they tried to change that.
  • On the flip side, I also appreciate that this movie seems to be addressing some things that would naturally come up. Like, are there other people around anywhere? Would Columbus and Wichita stay together if they had more options (I vote yes, hopefully, this movie won’t crush my dreams)? What is Little Rock meant to do with the rest of her life? What are any of them supposed to do with the rest of their lives? Double Tap seems to be giving us some long-term hints and I love it.
  • Usually not fond of the “dumb blond” jokes, but I feel like they’re going to play with that trope here. I mean, Madison must have survived on her own for so long somehow. There has to be more to this, right?
  • The Tallahassee-Columbus Doubles (Luke Willson and Thomas Middleditch) are killing me.
  • I cheered when I saw Rosario Dawson show up. Besides being a welcome addition to diversity, she’s just a good actor and I love her work.
  • MORE MASS ZOMBIE SLAUGHTER. Perfection.

We also did a trailer reaction!

I don’t want to jinx anything, but from what I’m seeing I think it’s safe to say that Zombieland: Double Tap is going to be awesome. October 18th can’t come soon enough!
