Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Panel at NYCC

So, I know I’m a little late to the party with this, but NYCC has been hectic! I got the chance to sit front row centre for Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Panel, but there was a no photos/videos/audio rule in effect, as per usual Marvel secrecy. If that wasn’t enough, there were men in black suits with night vision goggles to ensure that everyone in the Main Stage at the Javits Centre complied.

Jeph Loeb came on stage and reminisced about the days when Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was in a much smaller room for NYCC. He was really happy with all the feedback and love that show has received. He then revealed that he was dressed in a HYDRA t-shirt. Then from out of nowhere, Clark Gregg stomps on stage. (Anyone following his twitter feed knows that he was in NYC, so this wasn’t such a big surprise). To make up for Loeb’s misstep, Gregg has him play the upcoming episode of AOS that is set to air this Tuesday. (Worth watching for the fight scenes alone, but stay tuned for a review after it properly airs).

Gregg and Loeb returned to the stage with the former thinking it wasn’t enough of an apology. So, hot off the presses (from filming this past Monday), we were treated to a scene from “Agent Carter”. As I was in the front row, I got to see Gregg stand at the edge of the stage enraptured as much as the rest of the audience in watching the footage. I have to admit, it was nice to see Fanboy Phil in person!

So, as for the Agent Carter footage:

It’s set on a nighttime dock where Peggy (Hayley Atwell) and Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) discuss a piece of paper which contains a deadly formula that could destroy a city block if it fell into the wrong hands. Stark boards a speedboat in order to ensure that the formula is kept safe. There is a slight reference to Steve with a line where Peggy says “the right man”. They hug and part as good friends. To watch over Peggy, Stark leaves Edwin Jarvis (James D’Arcy) – the real life Jarvis rather than Tony’s AI version. As Peggy walks up the dock ramp to the car, she and Jarvis chat, though when she first met the man it was when she attacked him in an alley. He says that he’s at her service, though only before 9pm, as he has a nightly routine he likes to keep. The footage then cuts to Peggy in a white night dress beating up an attacker in her kitchen. This is where you get to see what a badass Agent Carter can really be.

Ultimately, this was a panel worth seeing  for the Agent Carter footage alone!

Marvel’s Agent Carter premieres January 2015.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. aires Tuesdays on ABC at 9pm.
