The Geekiary will not sell your information to any third party or share personal information voluntarily given via email or comments.


Our site requests information via surveys, giveaways, and fundraisers. Participation in these surveys, giveaways, or fundraisers is completely voluntary and you may choose whether or not to participate and therefore disclose this information. Information requested may include contact information (such as name and shipping address), and demographic information (such as zip code, age level).

Contact information provided during giveaways and fundraisers will be used to notify the winners and award prizes.  By entering into our giveaways or fundraisers you agree for a limited amount of information to be used in order for your prize to be claimed.  Survey information will be used for purposes of monitoring or improving the use and satisfaction of this site.  None of this information will be sold.

The Geekiary will limit its use of your emails collected during giveaways, fundraisers, and surveys for fundraising purposes.  We will never share your email to outside fundraising groups or other third parties. You may rarely receive an email that contains information about similar website giveaways or fundraisers. 


When visitors leave comments on the website, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. 

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/.  After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.  Your data is retained indefinitely.

The Geekiary reserves the right to use your IP, email address, and other personal information obtained from comments to block users from using this website or other Geekiary affiliated or partner websites.  See commenting policies for more details.


Communications with the Geekiary are archived and documented.  They may be used for citation purposes unless otherwise agreed upon.  This information will not be shared with third parties unless required by law or used to clarify conflicting public statements regarding those specific communications.

The Geekiary collects website analytics using the Jetpack plug in.  This plug in logs referrers, search engine terms used to find the website, page views, and external clicks.  This program does not log IPs.


We collect information about visitors who comment on Sites that use our Akismet anti-spam service. The information we collect depends on how the User sets up Akismet for the Site, but typically includes the commenter’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and Site URL (along with other information directly provided by the commenter such as their name, username, email address, and the comment itself).
