First Red Dead Redemption 2 Trailer Finally Released!
Here’s to all of my fellow Red Dead Redemption fans who have waited so long for the oft-rumored Red Dead Redemption 2…because not only do we have a vague release date (Fall 2017), we also have the very first Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer!
You can view the first Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer on the Rockstar Games website, along with a very vague description of the game:
Developed by the creators of Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption, Red Dead Redemption 2 is an epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland. The game’s vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience.
That vague description matches very well with what fans see in this first Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer – which consists of some amazing graphics (not surprisingly) and some throwaway dialogue that doesn’t really tell us anything about what’s to come. Additionally, while I understand that having that online multiplayer option is a huge plus for some people, all I care about is having the chance to once again immerse myself in the RDR world. I just wonder if the story can truly match up to the original…
“Listen to me,” a man says toward the end of the trailer. “When the time comes, you gotta run and don’t look back. This is over.”
There are some very John Marston-esque shots, which leads me to believe that Red Dead Redemption 2 is the prequel that many have claimed it would probably be…and while I originally wasn’t fond of that idea, now that I’ve seen the first Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer, I’m hoping for more John Marston.
I was more than a little impressed with the beautiful vistas pictured in this trailer (I mean, look at those screenshots!), but I wish we’d gotten just a tiny bit more information about the story. Of course, there’s always the possibility that I’m not reading enough into this single minute of footage. Did anything jump out at you? And were you hoping for more Marston, as well? Or would you rather they take a different direction with RDR2?
All I know is that Fall 2017 can’t come fast enough!
