CRPG “Black Geyser: Couriers of Darkness” Gets August Early Access!
Fans looking forward to playing Black Geyser: Couriers of Darkness can do so very soon. Developed by GrapeOcean Technologies and published by V Publishing, Black Geyser: Couriers of Darkness will enter Steam Early Access on August 26, 2021.
The fictional world in Black Geyser: Couriers of Darkness features a setting that’s plagued by war, pestilence, and abductions. In this game, the Dark Gods have brought nothing to the human race but venality and greed.
Players will be able to experience real-time tactical combat with pause and enjoy an indie title, inspired by Baldur’s Gate and Icewind Dale, with “rich storytelling, deep lore, and memorable companions.”
“As a small team, we wanted to create a unique world that had a different tone, but one filled with everything we’ve come to expect from a CRPG: an epic story, exploration, mystery and plenty of side quests,” said David Zakal, Director and Founder of GrapeOcean Technologies.
The upcoming indie game release will have over 300,000 words of dialogue and a huge world for players to explore. You will get to choose a unique race and class, gather your party, and venture forth into Yerengal to uncover the secrets of your character’s heritage. Your choices will impact the story and outcome. Take note; whether good or evil, being too greedy can cause severe consequences for you and your party.
Here’s the gameplay trailer!
Judging by the trailer, there’s going to be a lot of text in this game. I’m not against it, especially if said text helps flesh out the fictional world and its characters. I just want the in-game text to make me interested in reading it all. So let’s see what happens here. The overall presentation does feel related to the games this offering found inspiration from. The tactical gameplay aspects also look good.
For those who might not know, Black Geyser: Couriers of Darkness was successfully backed on Kickstarter in 2018 (being able to collect more than $100,000). Since then, the indie team (who began development in 2015) has increased the game’s size and scope of development.
The Key Features include:
- A huge world map with 2 countries (Isilmerald and Northern Realm), dozens of districts, settlements, villages, and towns.
- 5 playable races (Human, Dwarf, Elf, Feldegug, and Rillow).
- 13 unique classes from 4 class archetypes (Priest, Outlaw, Warrior, and Wizard).
- Over 300,000 words of hand-crafted narrative.
- Traditional real-time tactical combat with pause (yay!).
- An abundance of spells to wield and crafting to undertake, all combined with deep character progression.
- Character actions impact greed, which directly affects the world around you.
- An original world filled with diverse characters, creatures, and biomes.
- Fully voice-acted lead characters.
You can go ahead and Wishlist Black Geyser: Couriers of Darkness right now on Steam.
As for GrapeOcean Technologies, it’s a game studio based in Budapest, Hungary, and Vienna, Austria. The studio has a strong focus on computer role-playing games.
