This July, the Fandom Party returned to San Diego for its seventh annual event, coinciding with San Diego Comic-Con. Held at FLOAT on top of the Hard Rock Hotel, the event was a spectacular evening filled with entertainment, celebrity sightings, and fan-first experiences. Sponsored by EA and featuring custom activations from Z2 Comics and Pinfinity, the party was the place to be for fans, press, and industry insiders.

The night began with attendees receiving their bracelets, granting them entry into the exclusive event. The excitement was palpable as guests made their way to the open bar, I made sure to grab a glass of champagne to set the tone for the evening. This is a 21 and up event with there being an open bar, so no one under 21 was allowed in.

With delicious food options, including spring rolls, the night was off to a great start. As the party progressed, guests mingled and reconnected with friends made during previous Comic-Con events. Among the crowd were celebrities such as Felicia Day, Doug Jones, Samuel Dunning, Nicole Murray, and Colin Kaepernick, adding a touch of star power to the evening.

The party featured a variety of interactive experiences, from a Dragon Age-themed scavenger hunt to a 360-degree red carpet social cam. The circus-like atmosphere was enhanced by performers on stilts, adding to the festive vibe. After 9 p.m. hit, the highlight of the night arrived: a performance by multi-platinum superstar Jason Derulo.

With his dynamic dancers and a setlist filled with both classic hits and current chart-toppers, Derulo exceeded all expectations. His performance, which included more songs than anticipated, was a show-stopping moment that left the audience in awe. I could not believe that I was treated to a whole concert during Comic Con. This year was truly a great time for concerts during the Con.

As the night came to a close, attendees left with memories of an unforgettable evening and the anticipation of next year’s event.
