“Superman & Lois”: A Heroic Farewell at Hall H
Superman & Lois fans got a super treat at San Diego Comic-Con this year, as the beloved series made its debut in the iconic Hall H. Moderator Damion Holbrook made sure the show got its well-deserved flowers, with a stacked panel that included Tyler Hoechlin (Superman/Clark Kent), Bitsie Tulloch (Lois Lane), and series creator/writer Todd Helbing.
The panel kicked off with a look back at the show’s earlier seasons. The cast and creator thanked fans for their support and gave a preview of the upcoming and final season. Holbrook noted that the series was renewed after just one episode during production of season 1. Hoechlin humorously recalled, “We were probably taking a Covid test that day,” capturing the strange realities of filming during the pandemic.
When it comes to the iconic Superman suit, Hoechlin shared his experience being fitted for it, with Tulloch sprinkling in some playful tea, hinting at how involved the process really was.
Tulloch also spoke passionately about her character’s cancer storyline, revealing the deep impact it had on her. She did extensive research, even speaking with cancer survivors to bring authenticity to her role. Tulloch was so dedicated that she wanted to shave her head, but the producers nixed the idea.
Helbing reassured fans that all characters will receive a proper wrap-up in the final season, promising a satisfying conclusion to the show.
When asked which DC character he’d want to be, Hoechlin dropped a bombshell: “Well, I don’t know if I’m allowed to say it… Ah, we’re not coming back next season… BATMAN!” The audience erupted, and Tulloch chimed in that she’d love to be his Catwoman.
The panel also featured some light-hearted moments, including a prank Hoechlin pulled on Tulloch, involving fake rats and a tragically sacrificed scone.
Mark your calendars for October 17, 2024, when the final season premieres with a two-hour special. Superman & Lois is taking its last flight, and you won’t want to miss it!
