The Prince of Tennis Returns in Inaugural AX Cinema Nights

Ryoma Prince of Tennis Decide

Anime Expo, the country’s premiere anime fan convention, in partnership with Iconic Events and Eleven Arts Studio, will be launching AX Cinema Nights on May 12, 2022 with Ryoma! The Prince of Tennis <Decide>.

Ryoma! The Prince of Tennis <Decide> brings us the continuing adventures of Ryoma Echizen, the main character in fan-favorite franchise The Prince of Tennis. More than 250 theaters across the United States will screen both the subbed and dubbed version of this never-before-seen storyline from author Takeshi Konomi.

The franchise’s first ever 3DCG feature is set between the original series and its sequel, The New Prince of Tennis. This new story is full of action and drama that will make you want to dance and sing along! Make sure you stay for the credits, because there is an exclusive reel of compilation footage that will follow the film.

Inspired by his tennis champion father, Ryoma is determined to take his game to the next level and train in the US. But in the middle of an intense tennis battle to save his classmate Sakuno from dangerous villains, they somehow find themselves transported back to the past, just as Ryoma’s father is about to undertake his final championship match at the US Open – when he was mysteriously forced to retire.

Similar to Funimation Films or Crunchyroll Movie Night, AX Cinema Nights is an in-person event meant to bring passionate fans together for an “unforgettable and immersive community experience”. For a limited time, exclusive light sticks, imported from Japan, will be available in the Eleven Arts official store. These light sticks will “allow fans and attendees to add their own personal touch and bring the movie’s memorable songs and music to life” during the screening.

“Without being bound by what’s common in the film industry, we’ve overcome many obstacles and things some would call taboo to pack [this film] with so many new challenges!” said Film Executive Supervisor and Original Creator Takeshi Konomi.

You can see participating theaters and showtimes and buy tickets at the official site. (You can also enter to win an official Ryoma! The Prince of Tennis <Decide> light stick!)
