MegaCon 2016 is fast approaching, and I’m very excited to announce that The Geekiary has spoken with The Trevor Project, which champions a cause near and dear to our hearts, and I will be holding a fundraiser for them at my booth next weekend!
In case you haven’t heard about The Trevor Project, here is their organization’s mission statement:
Founded in 1998 by the creators of the Academy Award®-winning short film TREVOR, The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) young people ages 13-24.
Fellow Geekiary author Farid worded it better than I ever could when he said, “The queer youth is still at a high risk of suicide and I am grateful to The Trevor Project for helping countless in their time of need and continuing to do so to this day.”
But this isn’t just *any* fundraiser. In hopes of raising as much money for The Trevor Project as we possibly can, The Geekiary has gathered some really awesome raffle prizes and at least one other incentive.
Here is the official Trevor Project fundraiser flier that will be on display at my booth at MegaCon 2016:
There will be several prizes offered with our raffle – four total, as of now, though we may add more! One of the prizes isn’t pictured, but I can tell you that it is exclusive Loot Pets merchandise and themed around Adventure Time.
There’s also an Avengers gift set including a silicone ice cube tray and bracelets themed around Age of Ultron and Ant-Man…
And an 80s-game-themed pair of t-shirts (both women’s size Large), which are Loot Crate LevelUp exclusives…
Last but not least, though…the Grand Prize is a Funko Dorbz XL Rocket Raccoon, which was a San Deigo Comic-Con 2015 exclusive and is still in its original packaging!
I’m really excited about these prizes, but there’s an additional item you get if you buy 5 raffle tickets (for $5 total) – an exclusive Geekiary Tote Bag (which is 13.5″ width and 14.5″ height, so perfect for carrying convention needs)!
(Please note that this offer is only good until we run out of tote bags; there are a limited number available – additionally, there is only one tote bag for 5+ tickets, so if you purchase 10 tickets you still only receive one tote bag, again due to limited numbers.)
And of course, we will be accepting straight-up donations as well!
All donations must be made in cash, and the raffle will take place at 2 PM on Sunday, May 29th. If you purchase 5 or more tickets, you will receive your tote bag at time of purchase, but you *must* be present with ticket(s) in hand at 2 PM for the raffle in order to claim your prize.
We are so excited to be involved with raising money for such a great organization as The Trevor Project, so I hope to see you at my booth at MegaCon next weekend!
UPDATE: You can find myself and fellow Geekiary writer Bekah at Booth #P67 in Artists’ Alley!
